Has resigned as Bradford City manager after less than 6 months in charge. Thought he'd at least give it until the end of the season to see if he could keep them up... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47357362
Not massively surprised. 7 wins in 35 for a club their size in this division is shockingly poor, and their squad on paper doesn't even look that bad. I don't think they'll go down (Wimbledon, Rochdale, Bristol Rovers and Shrewsbury will drop for me) but they've had some horrific results this season.
They can't afford to go down. Next season they could be three leagues below Leeds, two below Huddersfield and only one above Halifax in West Yorkshire. When you're trying to attract fans from a catchment area, you need to be as high up as possible. Look at how Oldham always struggle on their crowds as locals prefer to watch two of the most successful teams in the country, just down the road.
They have a terrible squad lacking in quality and with way too many players who aren't interested in fighting for results. Interestingly the Bradford fans have only very recently started to turn on him, but even then that doesn't appear to have been the main. A lot of their anger has been directed at the players and the board - or whatever role that Edin guy played up until recently.
Do you know if George Miller been starting games for them? Their current predicament cannot be doing him any good.
Had a chat with some Bradford fans on Twitter and after lots of negatives about his goal return a couple came on defending him saying there's a talented player in there, but he isn't suited to the hoof ball, powder puff tactics that Bradford employ. They reckoned with a team that plays fast, attacking football and gets the ball wide he's be a really good asset.
All I know is that the bradford fans I know have all said he's absolutely crap and wish they could send him straight to us
Let me be the first to say Hopkin OUT!, before it even happens lol. And Tatty Jack, didnt he used to be Albert Steptoe in a former life.
Bradford are apparently poised to approach Bolton for permission to talk to former boss Phil Parkinson with a view to returning to Valley Parade. He might find that move an attractive one given Bolton current problems. Elsewhere, bookies favourite to take over at Leicester is Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers with former Huddersfield boss David Wagner also in the frame.
