He was playing well up to his booking. After that we took over in midfield.

David Perkins is a good player at this level.

Busy as always. There's no way I'd pick him ahead of Brownhill or Hourihane though.

I thought he was going to get annihilated after 15 minutes. He was left really exposed against Wildschutt, their first goal came that way and it looked like we were going to really struggle down our right. Then he crunched into a challenge and after that never looked back, had a really strong game to the extent that Wigan then changed it at half time.

I'm a bit worried there tbh. I thought he got run ragged against Colchester as well. We've got white back, but we know it takes him a few games to get back to best..

100% with this - he was struggling up until he nearly put him in't stand with a fierce but clean challenge. After that had his best game at full-back in my opinion.

I dont get why people try and make out Perkins was woeful for us and is a poor player. I think its really disrespectful, he's a good player and well thought about by a lot of pros and managers.

Perkins' form went down the tubes with everyone else. To this day, I still blame Flicker's switch back to 4-4-2. People forget how good that middle 3 was during the great escape..

Agreed, he got better once he started pushing forwards giving Wildschutt something to think about. Those first 20 minutes I feared for Josh. His opponent was bigger, stronger, faster and had a trick or two. Christ knows why they took him off at half time.

It was excellent. Perkins, Etuhu, Dawson and Mellis were on fire. I understand the lambasting of Mellis. He was a talented footballer he didnt want it enough. Etuhu is a player whos only just finding himself and could go either way. Dawson made the best of what he's got but was never Championship standard. Perkins is a very honest footballer who made it to the Championship late in his career and made a very good go of it. At 33 he's just helped his club get promoted and is going to get another crack at it.
