Great player, but hardly a legend for us. He only made 23 appearances. Most if not all of those were as a sub. Did he ever actually start a game? Never scored for us either. It's a great shame that we let him go and I very much doubt that decision was his, but we can't change history by claiming him to be a legend now. For Coventry or Chelsea then yes, but not for us.

Barnsley reject more than a legend.

W've had a few of these, played less than a seasons worth of games and being called legends - makes a mockery of it all.

Remember when Alan Clarke stopped the club bus and made him get off in the middle of nowhere because he was causing trouble.

I remember running onto the pitch after a game (as was the norm) when i was a kid and patting him on the back. I nearly broke my hand!

Yes I also remember Alan Clarke being the one to let him go. Saying he would never be any good 'cause he wasn't big enough.

    He's a Darlington legend

They've started asking back ex-Barnsley players who also played for the opposition. It started with Les Lea against Blackpool, then Allan Clarke against Walsall and now Speedie v Darlington It will probably be Banger for the Rotherham match.

i agree eaststander that hes more a reject. how can someone who did so little for us be a barnsley legend ? are we that desperate ? i believe the legend for the rotherham game is carl tiler. now theres a proper legend.

I thought it was the Barnsley legends suite

    Not the opposition one.

Let's hope we don't get the Wendies should we get to 3rd round otherwise it'll be Hurst
