I think it would be a great chance for him to get into the managerial side of the game - he already has plenty of great experience at the highest level, working alongside some experienced and talented coaches. Fresh ideas. Modern take on the game. Local lad etc... Do you think he'd want the job though?
Think it would be a great appointment, but do we know he actually wants to be a manager? He has done fantastically well for himself and becoming Barnsley manager would be a huge gamble for him. Can't see it.
Jody, that's goalkeeper bias of the highest calibre I don't think that is such a bad shout tbh. I think there are better suggestions, but I've heard much worse.
Why? The setup is here. The players we have are the basis of something good. We're not debt ridden. We've a damn good chance of getting out of this league in the next two seasons in my opinion. We are a prospect. We are a stepping stone for any ambitious young manager wanting to take a first step into the managerial world.
Why would he give up being goalkeeper coach for man city and England to take on a struggling league 1 team.
I don't think he'd want it, and do we even know if his obviously excellent goalkeeping coaching skills transfer in to knowing anything about tactics, formations, and management? Still young with years in the game ahead of him, great role in the England setup, and as mentioned in a previous post happily married in Norwich where the in laws live. I just don't see it as a viable option for him or for us.
Why wouldn't you? The majority of people that enter the coaching aspect of the game, pretty much want to manager one day.

Nobody would give up two great jobs in the premiership and for the national side, to take a paycut to manage us. I can see him as a manager one day but it won't be at division three level.
I think we should go through each of the promotion squad, and ritually cull them on a rolling basis if we're not 5-0 after half-an-hour of their first game. We can announce the new manager on the scoreboard: D R N R D N, and have the firing squad pointing at them from the top of the East Stand. Then we'll be happy. All our legends, sullied and gone.
