Boring sunday and all that. Just watched the 5-0 thrashing of the Bluenoses when Craig Davies scored 4, the only wonder is that Dagnall didn't get any but was clearly the best player on the pitch. Could have had a hat-trick in the first half and hit the post in the 2nd.
Dagnall never scored. He was the reincarnation of Peachey who also looked good till he was near the goal
I think this might have been his best game for us, his 3 efforts in the first half were all saved by Butland and so was the one that hit the post in the second half .
Dagnall was like a very poor man's Macken, who in turn was a poor man's Hendrie. And that's some high praise for old Christopher
Chris Dagnell was so important in the great escape, for what he lacked in goals he made up for in work rate
Similar to the famous 4-2 win at Rotherham then, where Banger got a hat-trick, but Barrowclough was the best player on the pitch.
Yeah Daggers sadly wasn't good enough as a scorer, but his work rate can't be questioned. And he did score at least once, in that home win against Leeds. Btw, was that when Flicker had just got the job ?.
I think Keith Hill was still manager then. Flicker was the following season unless I'm very much mistaken.
Back in the days when Leeds never liked visiting Oakwell. Remember it was an awful start to the new year for us, when those two dinosaurs both turned down the managers job offer. So Flicker took it on, as the clubs 4th choice lol, and look what happened then!.
If I've got this right Hignett had all been offered the job and was in the crowd at that Leeds game, think daggers scored both in a 2 - 0 win flicker had agreed to take charge of 2 games one of them that Leeds game. Such was the desire and work rate and buy in from the players, I'd heard a couple of the senior pros asked the board to keep flicker in charge and sure enough we did a u turn on Higgy and left flicker in caretaker charge until the end of the season.
Its wrong how player power can work like that, in getting managers hired/fired. But it was amazing what effort they were prepared to put in for Flicker, compared to how little they put in for mad Keef. From mid-Jan onwards when he took the job, that season brought back excitement again, and we were thinking we could beat just about anybody (apart from the 0-6 against Charlton lol).
Incredible form and points total gained from where we were mate, fantastic to watch. Think it was a record points total that posh went down with?
Yep, crazy season. 54 points they got. Leicester in 6th play off spot got 68 points. I think an extra 6 points for Posh would have got them up to 9th/10th area. Great end for us and what a season that was. Loads of clubs in the mix
Yeah I seem to remember it was, and other fans saying they were unlucky to be relegated with such a points total!. Wasn't it Bristol City (with the dinosaur who turned us down) and Wolverhampton, who were also relegated.
