Today wasnt his best game but i still think he is the best striker we have had for a while, he is always looking to turn and shoot, and he does look like he could get goals for us.
I agree about his touch, his close control isn't the best either. That being said he is lightning on the turn and is the best striker we've had in a rather long time. Can win headers aswell as chase the ball at great pace, which is more than can be said for the Andy Grays of this world.
One was on his weaker foot and about 3 other players slipped on the same spot he did and the other was a poor touch with took the angle away from him
He's scored 8 goals in 10 games for gods sake. But no, you're right. Bring Macken back, his touch was quality. And Conlon. If he scores goals, I couldn't give a stuff about anything else.
He usually does a lot more than score goals as well Today he had a bad game by his standards but one bad game when he has scored 8 goals in the last 10 gams and some fans just cant wait to have a go I am sure some of our posters actually are happier when we lose so they can get their moans in print
Agree farnham. is hold up play is normally very good. just right side of law (holt style) never gives up and as scored a few this season. today wasnt is best but we played too deep, so he got the ball on half way line and he was on is own. in gams hes done well in hes played well in there half and had players around him.
His hold up play at Oakwell has been terrible but at last we have a striker than can find the net its a bit of a conundrum for the manager. Personally he wouldn`t have seen the second half for me and also all this about Hill improving the players into world beaters that we get on here, well he has had half a season to get Davies to hold the ball up and a good exponent in Gray in the squad to educate the lad yet the lad either doesn`t seem to be learning or isn`t being taught. Lets hope the new year brings about some improvement.
Bit of Kayode syndrome today, he got himself into the positions but didn't finish. Having said that I thought it was a cracking turn and ball for Done and a good long range effort in the second half
how anybody can moan about Davies is beyond me he's the best striker weve had for years because whatever he hasn't got the thing he has got is the awareness to be in the right place at the right time. This kid will get us a lot of goals. And get real he's not perfect but if he was, would he be with us?
yes i agree with you on that, half a season to form a team is no time at all but at least i can see where hillcroft are attempting to take us. pity some of our fans haven't got the patience that is needed to build a team on solid foundations instead of the mercenary system.
How about bring back Ward or Dyer or are you just picking out certain former players there? Can't fault Davies scoring rate at the moment but besides that he's not impressed me other parts of his play - holding the ball up, control, passing... but you want a striker to knock goals in and he has 8 so far so you can't complain on that front
Agreed. We've a striker who knows where the net is at long last and he's being knocked. The guy missed three months of the season through injury and has jumped two leagues for crying out loud. I think he's in the running for player of the season so far (along with Buttercup if he stays, Steele, Perkins, Vaz Te, JOB to name six) and if he was the complete player we wouldn't have got him in the first place as bigger teams would have come in for him.
Its not the first one-on-one he's missed, it seems to be a bit of a habit, ok, he'll score some goals, but chances per-goal ratio is the difference between strikers, Davies doesn't take enough chances, that's why he was at Chesterfield, and that's why he'll be at Barnsley until we sell him to a smaller club or he goes on a free. If you don't like that tuff.
