Just watched the highlights back, and I've got to say the red card decision is much more borderline than I thought. It's a strong challenge but his left foot seems to get a fair bit of the ball and the right doesn't go in at the same time. But - I said at the game that I can't believe it's taken 15-16 months of his Barnsley career to get sent off. He often jumps in with both feet when tackling, and it is dangerous play. There must have been at least 6 or 7 games since he signed for us where he has made a challenge that some referees might be inclined to get the red out. Whether or not it would be justified, the way he goes into tackles gives refs every opportunity to send him off. I guess the other side of the coin is that he wouldn't be half the player he is (player of the year for me by the way) without the aggression. Decision for Flicker is whether he wants him available for tomorrow or the Huddersfield game. I suspect Etuhu's current fitness level will make that decision for him.
At the game it looked clumsy and I felt he gave the ref a chance to send him off which he gleefully took. Watched on the highlights and agree with you that its probably not even a yellow.
agreed, i think it was a shocking decision. anyway, its gone. we must move on and focus everything on beating Derby.
I'd say a yellow. Won the ball but these days that doesn't matter. He jumped in a bit even though he won it, so a yellow is fairest outcome for that tackel. Never a red.
