As much as it is bad luck that we have lost another player to a long term injury surely wasnt the point of Daveys spending spree to make sure we had 2 players for all postions?
I know De Silva was one of the better buys but surely after the most transfer activity in a season that i can remember at Oakwell we should have had the cover ready? Lets face it teams throughout the leagues lose quality players like this all the time. The imbalance in the squad is evident as we struggle to find an adequate replacement.
Thankfully it seems we found a keeper in Steele who can do a job in place of Muller, but will we be so lucky this time for De silvas position?

Not normal to lose your best 2 players to similar long term injuries

imagine Man United without Rooney and Ronaldo for 7-9 months. I reckon Sir Alex would be fairly gutted and expect it to affect their challenge on the league. give Davey a break ffs.

We are only getting 9000 fans. I dont know what the break even figure is but that is not good for a club in the Championship. To be competitive we need money for quality back up players and we jusy have nt got the financial power to do that. Davey has done a great job recruiting new players this season and recently we have had some very bad luck with injuries to key players.

    To be fair though Steve...

...this criticism was always likely to happen once the manager selected Bobby to play in midfield (i actually thought he had a decent game protecting the back four for what its worth, and it was a good job given the lightweight nature of the rest of midfield on Saturday), although he wouldn't have been my selection.

You yourself did say before Saturday that you thought it would be a poor choice not to play Togwell (in fact I think what you said was you'd be "amazed" if he didn't - and i told you to get ready to be amazed).

Are you suggesting we should have cover of the quality of Da Silva on the bench?

I think we have done well to replace Muller in the loan market with someone who looks like a decent replacement so fan

Hopefully Davey can do something similar in Midfield - but Da Silva was one of our best players you are never going to be able to cover that loss like for like from the squad. Baffled as to why Togwell doesnt get a game though - he was our most played player last season so a bit surprised he cant get a kick now

And yet we've got 7 forwards

We paid £400,000 for one of them who is currently plying his trade back in Peru. We paid £300,000 for another who hasn't even started a game for us. We paid £200,000 for another who has 1 goal in 33 appearances. The board have backed the manager. He's had millions to spend. It's just that he's wasted it.

Amount of signings he's made, a few are bound to be poor. You could say he doesn't have an eye for a striker! Feel sorry for Kim to be fair, should get a chance.

Ive missed the last few games

for one reason and another. I was surprised and disappointed in Daveys selection at kick off, but by the end I was of the opinion he knows more than me. Togwell aint all that. Hassell did ok. I was even impressed by Van Homo's distribution, looks comfortable on the ball, albeit a big light weight in the tackle.

I rate Davey. I think we're 4 or 5 players short. But Ive confidence that he'll know that and want to better us again in the summer.

Did you really think Van Homoet did OK?

I thought he set up the majority of their attacks with his shocking distribution.

Spot on. Davey seems fireproof in most fans' eyes. If (as looks increasingly likely) we take the big drop, who will take the blame then?
He has signed a helluva a lot of players for a small fortune and we are in almost the same position as we were 12 months ago.

I dont rate him above Hassell

and I've seen him get pushed off the ball too often, but I did see him with the ball at his feet and look to use it as opposed to just punting it forward of which Foster is guilty, Im guessing his pace and ability to get forward is what Davey has seen, but personally, I'd still pick Hassell before him.
