Watched him play well in the past but perhaps he has another side, i.e. lack of consistency. Perhaps we should ask the question why Moynes never played him or used him as a sub.

Looking at De Silva it makes me think he doesn't really want to play for our club. His whole body language on Saturday suggested that to me. Not up for the fight and would be off like a shot given the chance I suspect.
His talent isn't in question (apart from his shooting which is abysmal given his ability) but his commitment certainly is imho.

He's far too one dimensional for the Premiership

Da Silva is a great player but his game is all about defending and breaking up play. As soon as he gets in the oppositions half he's largely ineffective, because he doesn't have a clue what to do with the ball. That was painfullyillustrated on Saturday.

It works for us whilst ever he has a creative midfilder next to him. Thats not enough for a Prem team. Plus he's no Linford Christie.

    or it could be...

...three games back from a potentially career threatening injury playing in a lightweight midfield against Shaun Derry etc. I think the expectations heaped upon him whilst he was injured to be the 'saviour' were unrealistic. I call it the 'Walwork' effect.

See what Anderson is doing in say six games time if he can play next to a combative midfielder (we live in hope more than expectation... Hassell anyone ?)

    He was shocking on Saturday

But that doesn't change the fact that his role is tocontrol the midfield, break up play and assist the defenders.

The minute he gets involved in any kind of attacking play itoften goes tits up. Never more so than saturday.

was never given enough time to recover from his injury

shame that davey got us into such a position that he had to be rushed back with little reserve game practice

DeSilva is streets ahead of any other player at Barnsley

    in terms of ability.

He had a fcking stinker on Saturday, but as you say Dave, last month he was still recuperating.

and last season he was playing next to

Howard (or satan as he is now known by some of the posters) not a munchkin. Now I've nothing against Diddie Diego, but in my opinion he isn't big enough, strong enough or fast enough to play centre midfield. Some nice touchesthough. I can't believe I'm posting this but if Colace isn't fit, bring back Bobby.... there I've said it !!!!

Diego's all round game currently is not good enough in my opinion. Not for this league.

Colace looked steady when I've seen him. Gets about the midfield more than Diego so he's to start alongside DeSilva. But we need to be at them and getting a foot in from the off. Laws was a dirty fcker as a player and his teams are equally as 'competitive' - we need to match that before anything else, cos we won't football them to death if we carry on as per Saturday.

    Chuffin 'Eck, this threads pathetic

He has one bad game, actually awful game, but other than that, what has he ever done wrong? Have you not realised he didn't actually ever get time to do proper fitness training, maybe he's been playing on adrenaline and is now tired, Muller certainly looks tired aswell.

And Anderson has never been a defensive midfielder, which playing alongside Leon means he has to be. At least with Howard he had a little help getting the ball back.
