Just on the off chance you read this! You did a truly marvellous job the first time around and guided Barnsley to the top table. You gave us a team that played some of the best football since the 80's. You gave me a club to be immensely proud of despite going straight back down. This time around the job is a lot harder but in you I trust. I met you at the 10th anniversary do for the promotion to the Premiership and I can remember the look in your eye when I mentioned you coming back for a second bite at the cherry. The twinkle I saw there said far more than any words and I just knew that you would return at some point. If you feel you have unfinished business then all the better for us! It is immaterial to me that you have managed Wednesday and United - you moved for your own reasons and took what was offered as would any other manager. You are home now, Danny, and let the love affair with Barnsley rekindle and reignite this club. For the first time in ages I can truly say you have my wholehearted backing!!! I don't expect a miracle but I would hope we can be entertained again and get an atmosphere back then take it from there, Good luck and best wishes, Pup
Unfortunately a large section of our fans are going to judge him on how he did last time but football has changed so much that, for us, simply finishing near the middle of the second tier would be on a par with what Danny did last time. Not that I think we will this season, it'll go down to the wire again but only because the points required to stay up this year won't be as high as last year.
