Anyone choosing to watch your HD channel rather than your SD channel will obviously have a HD television. 99.999999% of the time this means that they have got a widescreen TV. With that in mind I request that you kindly **** off with your logo's in the middle of the screen and place them in the corner where they are supposed to be. Even better than that would be if you would acknowledge that human beings have brains and don't need to be constantly reminded what channel they are watching.

It's so other channels can't just nick the footage. Well, they can, but then it's obvious where they got it from so will have to pay royalties. And it's probably set up for 4:3 as that is still broadcast in many countries.

Not saying what they're doing is right, but that's what it's for, not what you suggested.

But when broadcasters have been asked about the on screen logo's they have always given the reason that it is to remind viewers what channel they are watching and to create 'brand loyalty' with viewers (ITV gave that reason, as did BBC, Channel 5 and Sky).

Surely if ITV have the broadcasting rights for the FA cup game for example and it is ITV cameras which are there filming it then it is pretty obvious where the footage is from if it suddenly appears on channel 4 tonight.

Also I'm not sure I understand the 4:3 reason because for example ITV HD's channel is a UK channel with the logo added on in the UK so why would it be in a position on the screen suitable for an SD channel in another country? I can understand the SD logo's being more central for the 4:3 viewers but the HD logo's should be in the corner surely?

Image burn is a well known form of damage for TV's and digital on-screen graphics (DOGs) are a proven cause of image burn because the image is constantly on the screen and can burn into the screen

Just do what 99.9999999% of the viewing public are doing - just watch the match and stop worrying about something that's trivial! Never ever watched a match and thought - wish they'd move that logo!!

Believe me or not, that's what it's there for. TV companies may claim it's for brand loyalty in the home market, I don't know, I've never heard that, but if you say so, however it's really for the international market. ITV want their logo broadcast all over the world and they want to know who is using their footage both legitimately and illegitimately.

It was my understanding that the logo flickers quicker than the human eye can register to prevent that however that maybe a myth

Fair enough, i'll accept your superior knowledge as you obviously have the TV background (which for some reason I'm still amazed at every time it gets mentioned).

    Still annoys me though

They place the score there so that people watching in many pubs can tell what the score is because the widescreen TV is set up wrong!

I'm happy to chip in for a hooker to be sent round to administer the most desperately needed oral relief on record. This board would be a happier place. :)

I'm feeling really miserable and grumpy too. If there's a BOGOF offer on, or anything.

I'm quite happy to pimp out Mrs C if the price is right. I need a new TV. :)

I think I'll stick to a pre-match beer if it's all the same with you.
