...what a heap of *****. 65 mins before we had a shot on target and that was like a pass back straight to the keeper. 3 goals in the last 14 games someone said today? Can't ever remember in 38 years watching the Reds such a woeful run of form. I've renewed my season ticket this morning but have never felt such abject apathy towards the team like I do now. One massive task to turn things around this summer but I don't have a lot of faith in KH doing it if 90% of his signings are anything to go by. Thank christ we've got a 3 month plus break.
As the man said, OMB, I salute your indefatigibility! After a season out (I went to the Southampton, Boro and Watford home games) I have to say this season has gone just about as I expected it to, save for us surviving - thanks to Pompey's shenanigans. I've seen and heard nothing that would persuade me to rejoin the ranks of ST holders next season, and I believe the pricing structure has had very predictable results. BFC's future looks to me to be a hostage to PC's health, or (and I sincerely hope for this) in the event of his recovery, his legal position. There can be no-one with an ounce of realism that expects us to survive next term if we insist on playing to rules which will not apply to our competitors. As another poster very appositely said, the club is at a crossroads.
You must have watched a different game to me, I thought we played some good stuff today, to a man they played well. We do lack a cutting edge but most of the components looked like they were in place; good movement, composure, working for each other. The young lads who I've seen this season all look like they have potential; Rose and Diggers especially, not seen enough of Stones but what I saw today he looked like a footballer. We're not a million miles away imho.
Knocking the ball about in our own half or across the middle is fine but without any quality in the final third it's absolutely pointless. Yes. some of our play was easy on the eye, but their keeper wasn't stretched once in 90 mins. I always thought scoring goals was the point of the game. We just haven't got a goal in us anywhere in the team. If you think four or five young'uns will dig us out of the hole we are in then you're placing far too much pressure on them. Stones and Digby could have a part to play next season I reckon, but Rose and Clark are far too lightweight at the moment. Both could probably do with loan spells a league or two down to toughen them up. No matter how you dress it up our prospects next season are grim.
Over 5 and half hours since our last goal at Oakwell. Edge of the seat stuff owd KHiller deserves all the plaudits he is getting. Talk down next season and survival will mean Keef is king once again.
