Good following from Huddersfield today made for a decent crowd- good to see some home fans coming back as well ....
Good following when you consider their away form over the past two seasons. Hope the Penistone line trains were reliable enough for them. Didn't see the need for home only pubs in town when we are the friendliest Yorkshire derby you will find after the Peterborough relegation season. Oddly Brammahs was home only but Silkstone Inn let anyone in. I don't get why two pubs owned by the same company had different rules.
Few flash points, Mmmm go and talk to the good public of Barnsley that were at the interchange after the game!
I didn't see any trouble at the interchange, as such, but it was massively disorganised and fans of both teams were understandably pissed off. It took until 17:40 for me to get a train, and I am normally on the 17:14.
The police were on a hiding to nothing at the station. They were managing a public safety issue which was not really explained very well to those questioning(?) their restrictions. I was, at one point, concerned that I would not get to Sheffield in time for my train back to Oxford but I was Ok in the end. I think that some Terriers fans may have had a long wait to get a train back to Huddersfield. Train operating companies do not have the spare capacity or the desire to cater for the extra demand caused by football supporters. And who can blame them?
No, just over 17,100. Which I think was more than the WBA game, but WBA brought a few hundred less fans. So today Hudds brought more than WBA, and we dropped a few hundred too. But that’s the Boxing Day family tradition thing, so expected.
