Not sure if this has already been mentioned, but currently there are only three teams with a better defensive record than us in the Championship.
Couldn’t believe Coventry didn’t score one of their chances either (not including the penalty). Rode our luck in that game first half as well.
We have four points more this season, than we did at the same stage last season. We're unable to select a handful of players. The transfer window is about to close, so business still to do. Every game has felt tight as **** to me. Which I take as a good sign with all the considered context. And from a personal POV, I always honestly state to my colleagues before every game, the result I'd be happy with. At Cardiff and QPR, and today, I said I'd take a point. I said I'd expect wins against Coventry and Luton. So in essence, I've only been disappointed once.
Me too. And my son and his friend who got a season ticket this year. That time away from Oakwell seemed an eternity, watching tv just isn't the same, you don't get to see the game in the same way. All the little kids go giving Toby and getting photos with Jack Walton, great to be back!
If anyone likes the statistics behind games xg often provides a bit of an insight in to the relative performances of teams by giving an expected goals for each team based on chances created. Yesterday’s game ended 1-1 but the xg showed a rather different picture of 0.27 v 2.92. In essence the stats suggest that we were clinical in our finishing and a combination of good goal keeping and poor finishing by Birmingham held them back. Our results this season have shown a similar pattern with the Luton game proving an exception: Cardiff 1 Barnsley 1 (1.54 v 0.56) Barnsley 1 Coventry 0 (0.39 v 1.86) Barnsley 0 Luton 1 (1.08 v 0.44) QPR 2 Barnsley 2 (1.41 v 1.33) I know it’s just statistics and it’s goals that matter but it does take away a bit of the emotion from the assessment.
Unfortunately some dwell on those stats and fail to look at goals we should’ve scored column. Although the latter column was poor yesterday.
