Talking to a piggy fan in pub other day, he reckons they can win 5-0 tonight as Barcelona managed to come back from 4-0 before. Nearly spilled my pint, how deluded they must be!
If he's said that they can, I wouldn't say that is deluded. If they can get themselves 2 up on the night with 20-30 mins to go (or longer), then they can make it nervy for Peterborough. Whether they will, is a different matter.
2 early goals and owt could happen, they've amassed nearly 100 pts this season so they're used to winning - it's now focused on by how many.
Alternatively Peterborough go for the jugular and score in first 10/15 minutes. Good night Vienna I reckon Peterborough only need to get 1 during the game, and it will sink any hope/confidence Wednesday have. The worst thing Peterborough can do is sit and defend for 90 minutes... At least have a plan to get some shots on target is a must
5-0 home win is currently 50-1 with sky bet. Things that happen once in 51 times happen everyday so it is possible. Just unlikely.
The fact is that they could have had five last friday, one on one, hand ball ,one kicked off line and a few more half chances when peterboro got caught out playing from the back.Thats what worries me.
I just don't see Pboro not at least 1. Weds gotta go for it and Pboro will exploit that. 3-2 fowls my guess.
. But so could Boro . Think weds could get an early goal, move to press on and get caught out by Boro, back to square 1.
I don't think betting odds reflect real world probability. You'd really need to analyse all football results in history and find the proportion of games which end with a 5-0 scoreline. I have no idea what that actual probability is but I suspect it's not 1 in 50. Edit; a 5-0 home win has a probability of 0.9%, ie roughly 1 in 100.
After watching the City v RM highlights this morning on YouTube a podcast popped up straight away from an Oxford fan. Predictions for tonight and tomorrow. His verdict - 2-1 to Wednesday so they’re out. Very complimentary about us but sees it as another 1-1 with the Reds winning on penalties. I would be happy with both those outcomes.
Agree entirely was just giving a very basic example of why it's possible. In fact they dont need to win 5-0 just by 5 goals which will have a even greater probability of happening than 5-0. Even if we worked out the probability of winning by 5 was 1 in a million, things that have a 1 in a million chance of happening also happen all the time.
The Wendies will be pushing for goals so will more than likely leave gaps at the back for Peterborough to counter. Peterborough have some fast forwards so may catch them piggies out. As previous posters have said, it will only take one goal for Peterborough and the Wendies will be sunk.
They need to attack. Peterborough will hit them on the counter will suit Peterborough more like the 2nd half in the 1st leg.
For maximum lols, I hope they go 4-0 up, raising all their hopes, then get done on the break with Posh grabbing a "consolation" to make it 4-1 on the night but 4-5 on aggregate. Imagine feeling gutted about a 4-1 win...
I fail to see how anyone with any knowledge of this season can come to the logical conclusion that if the game goes to penalties, we win
