    well done SD?

Are we congratulating him for signing rubbish now? Or is it for the hundreds of thousands of pounds (maybe more) that he wasted in signing all of these players?

congratulations simon, you're doing a fine job. The way that all you're signings end up leaving for nothing shows just how good your eye for a player is.

He signed all four for nothing too.

Souza had a good first year, and he was praised often by us on here. Didn't quite work out second season for him, but I'd have kept him, good enough for cover in my opinion.

Van Homoet was decent cover at right-back, but he won't be a loss. Same goes for Leon. At least he's realised they weren't up to scratch and got rid, rather than 'justifying his signings' like some of the deluded lot on here think.

    In the sense that...

he has seen sense and got shut. Hopefully he will now improve on the players he released

Think it's more a case of their contracts expired ...

..... rather than he got shut because they weren't good enough, or we would have been paying their wages for a bit longer, it's a pity Odejayi has another year left on his contract, because if he hadn't, SD could have realised how **** he is and 'got shut' of him too

No manager has a 100% success ratio

in the transfer market. Admittedly Davey could do better, but I'd much rather a manager that deals with players that arent good enough than someone who perseveres for fear of admitting mistakes. You could also argue that if he had the budget and scope to compete for British based players as opposed to gambling on foreign unknowns, maybe he'd have more success.

Macken, Kozluk and Hassell got new contracts because they were good enough.

Souza, Van Homoet and Leon didn't, so it is something to do with them not being good enough.

My point was that they went because .....

..... their contracts expired and in SD's opinion weren't good enough, unlike the ones who aren't good enough but are still under contract, e.g. Odejayi, the point being that they all would probably still be here, even if they weren't good enough, if they still had 12 months of their contracts to run.

SD needs to find a way to get shut of the ones who fall in the 2nd category - or stop signing ***** in the first place. The first thing he needs to do is stop sending the likes of Odejayi out on loan, cos we will never get shut if he lets them view the player close up first!

Imagine if we had an owner who stuck with the same **** instead of getting rid... We'd still be stuck with SD instead of getting in somebody who knows what they are doing

Imagine if we had one that buried his head in the sand and accepted any old crap served up

instead of striving to be the best that barnsley fc could possibly be. We'd probably end up with a club that is fighting relegation battles every year and showing no signs of improvement but believing it is acceptable

I get the impression from Red Rain's reports

that none of the Academy prospects are ready yet. And as for ODJ, Davey has had him out on loan, and he's hardly first choice anymore. Ok, he cost £200k, but how much did that goal against Chelsea generate for the club?

In terms of Davey's track record, history will show for every Johnson and Christensen there's a Moore and Bogdanovic.

Imagine if we had 95% of the fan base ...........

........ wanting a new manager before the Plymouth match and then half of them change their minds and evrything is suddenly rosy in the garden because Norwich lose at Charlton and we (at last) manage an away win against a team who have **** all to play for, how bizarre would that be??
