Annoying football phrases "Away goals count double" - the time I had to explain to my dad who thought in a European tie when Man Utd had lost 4-2 away that a 1-0 win at home would take them through as the away goals counted double!
I know what they actually mean is in the event of scores being level the side with the most away goals wins. No idea where double comes from
