Some unfathomable H&S decision, most likely. Ridiculous they can't just sell the whole North Stand - with nobody in that end of the West, and a sizeable gap to the East (that's easily policed) it makes no sense whatsoever.
Due to poor stewarding in the past including where fighting broke out during the Leeds game a few years ago we are not allowed to sell tickets in that corner. Again due to poor stewarding in the past where fans have been allowed to stand in the gangways we aren't allowed to sell tickets in the seats lining each gangway. And yet again due to poor stewarding in the past where fans have been able to make it onto the pitch we aren't allowed to sell the front few rows. We also made a club decision at one point not to sell certain seats at the back due to complaints about the view and deciding it wasn't worth the hassle. This all came from the clubs previous safety officer. Gally has however stated that the club now say the reason is that the stand doesn't have enough exits in it to safely evacuatein an emergency quick enough. But you have to remember that the club also told us for years that the away end couldn't be split due to the east (home) side turnstiles not working but when the east stand was closed in an emergency with no notice and the away end had to be split that those turnstiles worked pretty damn well
Don't we tend to block off the bottom 10 rows or so? Not sure if that's for stewarding reasons or to try and reduce the away team's atmosphere
Doesn't that stand hold 6k it's a joke we can only sell that many tickets encourages fans to try the home ends. Hopefully the home ends sell well.
There hasn’t been 6000 tickets available for that stand for a fair few number of years, it’s nothing new. Personally I’m not too bothered just short of 5000 will be noisy anyway
Easy to blame the stewarding Perhaps if some fans behaved like normal human beings. We wouldnt need any Stewards. Most clubs if not all have these same issues. At away grounds Netting in the first few rows is commonplace. Netting between is commonplace. Selling in sections is commonplace. Pricks in gangways. Pricks that want to fight. Is commonplace. Obscured views. Although I'm not aware they are not sold if needed even at an obstructed view price. Some grounds I believe do. Some don't and that's scandalous. So Barnsley should look at that option imo. If it's the case. Then no criticism should come their way. As they should be the last available. If we sold all the available seats. It may cost a lot more to steward. Police are not the main keepers of the peace in the ground. Else that definitely would be more than the restrictions cost. . Stewards are not there to get into fights with fans Which can often be the case. Bouncers would be more suitable. But more expensive. As for the last one I agree. But much easier to make a snap decision than a permanent one. Now it's been tried and tested. I believe that's an option being investigated. Some of these issues could be put forward by the advisory group once set up.
I completely agree with you on all those points, I'm just saying what the safety officer told me were the reasons for each of the sections of seats being left empty.
How sad we've got a huge away end that will have hundreds of empty seats that should be getting sold.
Should be getting 18000 easy with just under 5000 away fans if nit then where the ones that went to fir day out at Wembley
