Struggling to pay wages due to 'cash flow problems' now ordered to pay Richard Keogh £2 million for wrongful dismissal
I really hope so. I know people have sympathy with fans etc for their clubs demise, but their own boards and owners don’t seem to care too much for them so I cannot have much sympathy for teams trying to play the system.
can we get there name correct please,. Its "Wayne Rooneys Derby" as far as i can understand they must have legally changed it sometime recently
I think they'd only get a points deduction if the players and/or PFA lodge a complaint to the EFL. So, while there's hope of a takeover, it's not really in the players' interests to initiate a points deduction on themselves. There will come a time where they have to call it in though if it drags on much longer.
Just like Sheffield Wednesday, Derby are behind in filing their 2019 Financial Statements at Companies House. Both clubs are trying to put off the inevitable moment when their true financial position is revealed to the EFL. I though that I would look up the penalty for late filing of accounts. For a Private Limited Company, the maximum fine for being 6 months late in filing is a miserable £1500. Derby are already over 6 months late and Sheffield Wednesday are almost there. The was a reference to the striking off defaulting companies, but it was not clear at what point this would be considered.
Officially the EFL know nothing about wage problems or the financial situation at Derby, until they are notified officially by the PFA. So this information is discussed daily in the press and by supporters but the EFL, who are in charge of the leagues ,don't know and won't act. We knew for years, what was going on at Sheffield Wednesday and Bolton, they even made a series about Sunderland. Still the EFL and FA didn't intervene. Is it any wonder people are disillusioned with football.
If I was cynical, I'd think they were deliberately trying to time it so that any resultant points deduction had to be applied next season.
