After having time to sleep on the policing I witnessed on saturday I decided to give the force a ring to not complain but ask, why old and young men and women were denied the use of the toilet. Which we are in 2015 and it is a bacis right. A officer rang me back today to explain after last year the officer in charge of saturdays game made the decision to hold barnsley fans back and let chessie fans disperse. After the third goal went in a number of spirited people (his words I presumed he ment drunk) entered the concourse (I assume to leave) when they couldnt pushing and shoving took place with police and he said they then took the desision to stop people entering the concourse for their own saftey. He also said the idea had been alway to set up the barrier outside and let people with kids old people ect leave and stop big groups. I was happy with his account I just think mistakes were made all round saturday but got my explanation and was good of him to ring me back to explan.

Glad l gave it a miss. So 17 minutes before the end you weren't allowed to leave or use the toilet? I would have let my three year old p*ss all over the stand.

If they were so drunk how did they manage to get in the ground ??

Complete rubbish and as per usual police covering their asses

You will never get them to admit they were in the wrong

But fair play to you for calling

Super Tyke will be outraged by your stupidity to think Derbyshire Police were any less than helpful and pleasant on saturday. Especially when in the presence of such vile and inhumane people as Barnsley fans.

Your right there was more or less just a scripted answer he gave me trying to cover there backs. I expected it really. I think last years trouble was blown out of proportion. What was the helicopter all about I thought it was going to land on pitch and sas were going to jump out. I would have spoke to him for longer but he rang me when I was at work at a bad time so our chat was brief

For what it's worth I was sat right next to one of the gangways so saw plenty of what was going on. We conceded the third goal and people wanted to leave. The coppers said no. A few angry souls took umbridge to this and started getting a bit rowdy and shouting the odds. The coppers blocked the gangway. Around 30-40 'fans' at a guess rushed them, pushed them back into the concourse at which point others joined them. Some looking for bother, others rubber necking. At this point futher police joined in the action. They were either already under the stand or outside waiting. They were then further supplemented by the 20 or so officers who came from the left hand side of the away end, in front of the supporters essentially penning the supporters on the concourse. These people then began to filter back into the stand.

Now. The policing was heavy handed BUT if we'd not 'bum rushed' the police maybe it wouldn't have been. Also, would you really want to take your kids or elderly relatives to the toilet with that going on? Its 6 and two 3s this. The police need to take some blame but so do some (not all!) Of our fans.

sounds fair enough to thereev but then again thereev is a fair minded individual......the cops should know how to deal with crowds by now ffs but you cannot legislate for some of the moronic fans either.

Young kids can't pick and choose when they want to go, not letting anyone go to the toilet is pathetic.

On the concourse there's some big **** off gates with "exit" on them, l was at Chesterfield last season - they have them too. They can just close them to stop the crowd getting out of the ground and they can still use the toilets. There were only 1900 folk there, not 50,000 if a few of them want to spend 20 mins trying to ram the big steel gate down then let them but they'll remain inside the ground.

Woah there. I didn't advocate not letting anyone use the toilet. No one can pick and choose never mind kids. The question was do you want to take your kids to the toilet while there is fighting on the concourse?

Would you have much choice? l know with my nipper that you have 2 mins at the tops when he gives you warning, otherwise you're mopping up. Next season they should hand out piss bags on the turnstiles instead of telling you you're staying in the ground after the game like you're playing Galatasaray in a Champions League decider.

Well what he says did not happen in practice - I witnessed older chaps (60+) shoved back and had batons drawn on them - they were not drunk.

I entered the concourse to use the toilet - there was space, no shoving and a policeman drew his baton and told me to "**** off back in there " - the away end.

Instead of dealing with the few numpties they wound the situation up and antagonised otherwise reasonable people - I've been all over with Barnsley, including through the bad old days of the 1980's and have not witnessed such heavy handed out of proportion policing as I did at Chesterfield. Absolute disgrace.

Pointless saying anything as our own club apparently thinks that we are contemptible - it's been put out in the media enough - including in the build up to Saturday's game. They have to justify the police action somehow I suppose.

I'm done with away games now. Having seen how law abiding reasonable Barnsley fans were treated it's only a matter of time before we all have to register before away games. We are so obviously that dangerous.

Make sure you both write to enquiries@ipcc.gsi.gov.uk, I have done. I doubt it will have an effect but it's our best chance of doing something.

Im just relaying what I got told I could only ask about what I witnessed. Which wasnt as much as some as I was sat in my seat untill the fulltime wistle. I was however on row b and witnessed plenty of people getting refused access to the toilets. And the police been heavy handed. The police just covered thier backs but I expected nothing else. Imo common scence could have prevailed if your average joe wants to leave 15 minutes before whats the difference between 15 after. I also think there are plenty of police officers who give the police force a bad name and they were quite a few who had been bullied at school seeking there revenge on football fans or so it seemed on saturday.
