Not sure where, want to avoid the Euro (seen as though I would be losing about £17 per £100 compared to recent years). Like the look of Croatia and never been but a week there is around £500pp. For £500 and a bit I could get a fly-drive to Vegas! Not sure I fancy Vegas that much, wouldnt mind seeing it, but at least with a car I could get out to the Grand Canyon and the like. Anyone know how long it takes to get to Phoenix? Always fancied it.
£500 for a week in Croatia? Is that full board? Think it was about £350 for a week when I went half board 3 years ago
I went to Dubrovnik, definately worth a visit. For me it was the ideal combination, the hotel was about 10 mins by bus from the old town, after breakfast we went into the town for sightseeing etc, back to the hotel around lunchtime and spend the afternoon by the pool or on the beach.
RE: By the time you get to Phoenix... Vegas is miles from anywhere mate. You might make palm springs or the grand canyon and back inside a days drive, but Pheonix is more like a 6/7 hours there and the same back.
m8 went last year - Him and missus spent entire two weeks /poo /poo /poo Daren't even fart for fear of following through
off in 5 weeks... to Egypt. our 5* hotel cost 500 quid for 2 adults and 2 kids. could have stopped in hilton for extra £200 well cheap. just make sure you take some wipes to wipe hands after touching their money, thats the main reason people get the runs. money is filthy and full of germs
Did a Nile cruise a few years ago, quite a few on the ship had the runs at some point or other, but we were fine.
Croatia is incredible..... ....went on honeymoon there last year. Is pretty expensive though and will only get more so. Also, I have a feeling that their currency is pegged to the Euro, which will make things even worse.
Hmm, could do to know that One of my reasons for choosing Croatia at this time was the fact that they still have the Kuna.
I might be wrong about that though.... ...off the top of my head, when I went last year 10 kuna was approximately one pound. Not sure about now though. Even if it has dropped, please don't let that put you off, Dubrovnik is a magnificent city, and if you get a car and get out to some more remote places the fresh seafood is incredible, and the prices are very reasonable. When I said "expensive" I meant in relation to Spain. Still not bad compared with most of Europe. A good feed with a couple of beers shouldn't come to more than a tenner a head at the mid-range places in Dubrovnik. At the upper-end you can spend a lot more but the quality is sensational.
So it isn't. However..... ....current exchange rate is 9.2 Kuna to the pound, about 10% down on what is was when I went (or 10% up if you're a Croatian travelling to the UK!)
Mablethorpe. Great place. It's got everything you could want from a holiday*. *sea and a beach with lots of jellyfish stranded on it. Oh, and some dunes hiding the occassional doggy do.
