despite being a miserable git, I am totally chuffed that Bobby has signed his deal to 2012..

that lad is well worth it...he was slagged rotten when being played out of position..but has stayed the course. Not only that he has become a real stalwart for the side. Thankyou Bobby for staying and giving your allegiance to our club..you now deserve player of the year...as if that was not already yours.

another player worth his salt too.... Martin Devaney

he is not our most gifted, but that fella is one of our few that always comes off the pitch bathed in sweat and knackered , because HE always give 110% and does attempt to run through the proverbial "Brick Wall", granted he has had his off days yes... but two days he had a total ON day and provided the greatest croses for 1. our equliser at Anfield for Foster..and 2. Our Winner over Chelsea for Kayode
I give you Martin Devaney..a lad who has TOTALLY earned his slot as a Barnsley Legend at any of our half time presentations

Yep, agree with that. Nice to have players who seem to have "grown with the club".

so in total with plymouth the previous year, he's had 3 good days

squad player at best, if we want to improve, he never gets a shirt, harsh but true

Had a lot more good days than JCR. Scored more goals than JCR, but cos he is not small and black  he is over looked

    Unfair

He tore Wednesday to shreds this season at home; he was outstanding vs Southampton last season (Gareth Bale made to look totally inept). That's just off the top of my head. He puts a decent shift in every time he's picked pretty much. I'd definitely have him in the squad.

Devaney's best days are in the past

I doubt he'll hold down a first team starting place again on merit.

JCR will outscore him game for game at this level. He's already scored 2/3rds the goals in half the games.

    But as Dragon says

    Another player worth his salt.

Look at it this way.... we'd like to get Hammill, I hope we can..... but realistically will it happen? If we get him on a season loan that would be fantastic, but that's as good as it will get... and Hammill can't answer everything.. he'll need replacing from time to time... Disco won't let us down.

    Put it this way

Who are we going to buy to improve the side?

Who is out there that we can afford, that will improve the squad?

Look at the players we've had on loan... Whalley, Teale.... if that's the level we're pitching at I'd sooner have Devaney. Appreciate what you're saying, but I'm not sure we can afford much better other than dropping lucky on a young pacey kid.

it's quite simple, stay where we are devaney, rigters, oddjobb

improve, then we would have to invest, it's quite simple
