Anybody agree he runs himself silly for the first half and fizzles out in the second. After ten minutes of the second half he looked completely knackered and should have been subbed at that point. Is it that the dugout did not see him flagging ?
By the hour mark he does tend to tire. Not complaining too much as in most games I've seen it's through running his blood to water. For me, the hour mark yesterday would have been time to drag him off, drop Hayes, who for all his faults has a good engine, to right wing and bring on Nardiello.
I don't think it would do any harm for Ritchie to watch the First Half from the stands every now and again. I can't see how he can get a good picture of how a game is shaping up from pitch level. It seems to work for managers in the Prem so why shouldn't it work in the Championship? He can always come down to the dug-out at some point if he sees the need.
I have thought for some time now that Disco has been found out and indeed have sometimes thought that this league is a step too far for him, too reliant on taking the ball into corners (at one point last night had the opportunity to bear down on goal but ran diagonally to the corner flag). Totally agree with Revvie P in that Disco fades after an hour so, therefore by replacing him and dropping Hayes wide right or just behind the front two (where I think he plays best) and bring on Nads.
If we had a player who could threaten in the box and get on the end of good service from disco & McIndoe then perhaps by 60 mins of most games he would have done enough?
RE: If we had a player who Oh so its someone elses fault that he cant last more than an hour is it? Personally, I haven't actually seen him last a full 45 mins yet. IMHO he usually has a 20 or 25 minute spell in the first half and after that he may as well be sat in the dugout.
I think suggesting that Hayes might be dropped to a midfield role if Devaney tires is a good idea. If I remember rightly he played behind the forwards in cardiff and did well.
