Attempted to get Windass.

This Ritchie and his obsession with youth is a bit of a myth imho.

Howard's only 23 (22 when we got him)

    That's youthful innit?

RE: Howard's only 23 (22 when we got him)

    He'd played plenty of football.

There seems to be the perceived wisdom that Ritchie is only interested in untried kids. Whether that's put about by people working to their own agendas or what I don't know, but all things considered, Ritchie's beyond reproach imho.

Also, bearing in mind the Chairman said 2 full houses v Hudds and a play off final would wipe out our debts, I find it hard to believe that we have NO money for new signings as has been intimated on here today.

A strong, clear statement of intent from our Chairman would not go amiss at this time, he said rather pompously.

    No...

Shep actaully corrected himself and said that the playoff's would not clear the debts but actually ensure that we make a small profit this (last) season. The playoffs will NOT pay off the long term debt, which as I understand it are monies owed to PC and BMBC. Some of which (£1.4m) is payable by October to prevent interest from accruing

Ritchie's done a great job imho

Shepherd didn't say our debts would be wiped out. He simply stated that we would break even over the season. The debts remain the same.

Surprised and a bit worried we haven't signed anyone yet though. IMHO the squad isn't close to being strong enough to survive.

    Why and when

did the club (the current business) become indebted to BMBC & PC?

I could see that PC perhaps bailed out the club after PR but even thats debatable as PR's financial forecasts seemed to match the latest financial statement from the club?

BMBC & PC basically put the initial funds in to buy the property I understand and BFC pay rental on the ground.

This does not equate to BFC paying out 1.4m in october.

    It's all a smokescreen IMHO

    Unclear..

and in actaul fact OCA owes the money to PC and BMBC. It looks like loans made to clear debts, but debts falling from what we don't know.

It's a fact that either the club or OCA will have to pay PC and BMBC the £1.4m by October or it will incurr interest.

I think this deadline is the primary reason why we are not signing anyone and have already had mentioned going to strengthen in the Jan window, when presumably we will have paid the money and had a few big gates to swell the coffers. And probably sold Flinders

It's too small to survive in League One let alone the Championship. It's early days yet, we have up until the end of August to sign players, but then they have to fit into a system with which they are unfamiliar. Madness in my vieew not to have signed at least four new players this week plus replacements for those who drag their heels.

The fact that OCA owes PC or BMBC anything...

Doesn't have anything to do with the football club. The club have an agreement to rent the stadium from OCA. They will only pay rent when the club makes a profit. (According to GS).

    In theory..yes

    In practice?

It appears that OCA wrote off money owed to it by BFC and loaned BFC money too.

    Also...

I would speculate that any monies from PC are likely to be in the form of loans (ie for "box office players") and that surely goes against what Shep is trying to achieve: self sufficiency.
