Commentators described it three times. First it was from 6 yards; Then it was from 8 yards and finally it was from "about 10 yards". Come the end of the game it will be 30 yards out and a tremendous effort that just missed.
Id say it was about 12 yards & wouldn't have looked out of place at Twickenham!! Mind you, in fairness to him, I think it did bobble before he hit it. Also think the linesman had his flag up for offside so probably wouldn't have counted anyway.
It was 8-10 yards and it was a sitter. Pass from Nardiello (didn't see an offside flag) saw Devaney in acres of space with the keeper stranded. It bobbled and he skied it. But why oh why oh why was he trying to hit it first time anyway. He had time to stop it, count to 10 to get his composure, and then walk the ******* thing in! Mind you, he probably doesn't need telling that. He'll be replaying that chance in his head a hundred times over tonight.
RE: Thanks but no thanks He had time, as you say to trap the ball and place it; but I think he was committed to the first time side foot, the ball bobbled and he definitley shinned itdiddnt connect with his foot at all.
RE: didn't take long! Didn't say that - but if Devaney was half as surprised as we were! You obviously don't understand sarcasm!
I do mate... cos I am as sarcastic as they come. and I was actually being sarcy when I said that... I was actually suprised he passed too, and fair play to him for doing it, cos I didn't see disco flying in. too busy waiting for nads to shoot...
