Sat in the West Stand last night and watched Devaney's body language. He seemed to be very involved in the pre match training (more than can be said for Nardiello). When the teams took to the field Devaney walked into the dugout and shook hands with Davey and Kidd. I think he should have scored very soon after he came on, it seemed harder to miss. In the West Stand the Ponty end and East Stand look fantastic, nearly full. A bit more singing required though.
East stand... ...singingff A few in the lower tier stand up and shout if the linesman gives the throw the wrong way and thats about as much as you'll get.
interesting about nards cos he was driving behind me on the m1 straight after the game bout 15 mins after or so??
RE: interesting about nards Can't blame him. He's seen every striker in the squad get a chance before him and fail, yet he gets 2 games then back to bench. Even Tommy Wrong got 4 or 5 before he was packed off on loan. After scoring the goals that took us up, he should have got at least a five game run in side, but he got injured. When he comes back from injury, he looks dangerous as a sub, then starts TWO games, for no goals and suddenly is on bench. Leon Knight has been terrible in the last 2 games. Will he be on the bench? No chance. Richards was awful again on tuesday. When was the last time he scored from open play? Plymouth at home. The time before that? No idea.
"After scoring the goals that took us up" Oh aye. He got 7 goals. Not 17. Not 27. 7. Keep convincing yourselves that he's better than a 3rd division, injury prone, spazzy legged Joey ... at least it gives you something to moan about. We signed him on January the 27th 2004. He has 19 league goals to his name. He's only been fit / good enough to start 41 games & come on as sub 51 times. I'd get rid of him tomorrow.
RE: "After scoring the goals that took us up" Basically he did yes. Walsall - to take us into the Play Offs. Huddersfield - to take us into the Play Off Final. Swansea - to equalise in the Play Off Final. Correct me if I’m wrong but without these we may not be in the division we are now. He is without doubt the best finisher in the club and if we had him fit at the start of the season I think Ritchie would still be in charge and would not be in the position we are in now. Also Leon Knight isn’t used to how we’ve been playing in, he would have been suited to a more attacking style and how can you have a go at him when all we’ve done is launch a ball upfield to compete with a defender in the air nearly twice his size.
RE: "After scoring the goals that took us up" I wasn't meaning to have a go at Knight, I dint realise thats how it came across. Here is a guy, who hadn't played since early October, but he has played 90 mins of both games. He cant be match fit. Nardiello is alledgedly not match fit, but he hasn't had a run of 90 minutes this season to improve. And yes, the goals last season were the 3 that were mentioned. I know he didn't score all last season, but he turned it on during that important period. If only he was as good as he was when he first came on loan....
If if if If we had him fit at the start of the season. If he had someone decent alongside him. If he didn't run like a lass. Decent player and a valuable member of the squad. The saviour he certainly is not.
RE: If if if Who is then? Knight? Richards? Wright? Hayes? The point is that Nardiello hasn't had the chances that the others have. Thats not an if, that is a FACT! Agreed with the running girl though! I reckon he runs like Montgomery Burns with his withered arms...
RE: If if if Nardiello started Vs Ipswich and never looked interested on that field. Didn't run for balls, didnt track back and didnt jump for balls.... He is only interested if the balls comes within 2 yards of him. Fair enough he scored 3 important goals last year, but that is history. History does not warrent you a place on the pitch!
RE: If if if I don't think he's a hard done by as everyone thinks. Ritchie saw him in training every day so he knew what he could/couldn't do. We've seen him in games and occasionally he's been superb and in others he's been anonymous. Managers are never keen on inconsistant players. I'd give Knight a few games to get sharp. Richards would be first choice for me. Not necessarily the best striker at the club but his overall contribution is good. Nads is an ideal sub/replacement if Knight isn't doing the business.
Load of ballax. Nick Colgan took us up last season. Anyone who can't see that should go watch netball instead. 3 goals. That's 3. Not 13. Not 23. Not the 30 he "promised". 3. He's fecking useless. He's also had many, many chances ... but he's either too lazy or spacky legged to take them. Sell him to Donny. They'll buy any lovely person.
