As low as our expectations are, why should someone like Phil Jones have an automatic ticket on the plane to the Brazil if fit? When Man U won the league last year the questionable defence was carried by the attack, they've been found out this season to be distinctly average.

Phil Jones' level is with someone like West Ham or Crystal Palace, he is not international standard, probably wouldn't get in the Wales side. Same could be said about Chris Smalling.

Get the Southampton lads in who did so well for most of the season, get Stones in, Barkley etc.

Tom Huddleston & Connor Wickham have been brilliant this year but James Wilson and Tom Lawrence have a better chance of getting in side

The sooner they knocked out the better let proper teams get on with it

During his career I considered Rooney to be the worlds number one footballer - now I think that at most he is one to fill a place on the England bench.

Still a great club player - but he hasn't got the confidence to do it at international level.

There's a few more well known names to add to that list stating with Gerrard

Re: does that mean Stones is out now

He will be in the 7 stand by players I expect

For once the title of a Thereev thread is accurate though its bad news the pair look like being fit - Jones especially wouldnt even get in the 32 if had played for anyone else.
Rooney never delivers at world cups so if he goes I would start him on the bench
