If we were to appoint a new manager who was popular with the masses and he too removed Bobby from his starting eleven what would the reaction be.Whilst on the subject about Sir Bobby his column in the Chronicle today showed what type of man he is and at the same time quashed the rumours about himself and K.Hill.
Well done Bobby looking forward to your testimonial season.

There is a lot he could say, but he is too much of a professional to say anything.

He's been here since 2004, he's been more than loyal so if he wants to go elsewhere I would wish him good luck. Football clubs need people like BH, we need someone like BH so I would love it if he stays!

My situation has remained the same throughout. I have no problem with a manager leaving Bobby out to play John Stones.

Leaving Bobby out to play a significantly worse player (Wiseman, the current McNulty) is what I have a problem with. My opinion on this would remain the same. If a manager isn't playing him because he prefers Stones, thats fine and reasonable. Suggesting Wiseman is a better player than Hassell suggests a man devoid of a brain.

I wouldn't give him another contract because I don't believe he can take the club forward, and he isn't going to become a better player.

I doubt that he would refuse a contract with us if he is offered one.

Who in league 1 or 2 would pay him as much as he gets at Oakwell?

Some people don't like Bobby Hassell. I have no idea why. Lovely person, terrific ambassador for the club, never a bad word to say about anyone, does a lot of community work off his own back, loves God.

Bobby has earnt the respect of the fans and deserves his status as a legend, that won't change if he moves on to see his career out somewhere else.

Agree and as a good man and a Christian I don't think he would put things in the local press that wasn't true.

People don't dislike him as a human being, they have an opinion that he's not as good a player as most people on here make out. He's assumed god-like status on this board this season when he's at the end of his career and is struggling with the pace of the game. Even at his peak, he struggled against pace and aerial power. He did his best and always gave 100% which is why he's held in high esteem. However, Stones is far quicker, better in the air and is improving every game whereas Hassell's days in the Championship are over. Phil Chambers and Nicky Eaden were far better full-backs and gave just as good a service to the club but they received dog's abuse from the so-called fans. Don't real understand this Sir Bobby nonsense, people never gave Spud Murphy, Ronnie Glavin, Neil Redfearn or Mick McCarthy such an accolade

I have never said Bobby is the greatest footballer.Even Bobby will admit that. But you cannot bring into question his commitment and attitude.Stones is a better fullback than Hassell but are McNulty and Wiseman better defenders than Hassell?

and to quote the previous poster-

    you sure about that?

Do you mean "GOD " or "KING RONNIE GLAVIN " is not his real name then? Or McCarthy was not call Super Mac? Or that Murphy was not called that bugger at full back with the tight shorts?;)

All were legends but i never heard "Sir Spud", "Sir Neil", "Sir Mick" and hardly ever heard their names chanted. Glavin got his own song which is something in common with Hassle. I actually think Hassle's best position was defensive midfielder rather than in the back 4 where he was distinctly average. I agree re Wiseman and McNulty by the way - they are way below average for this division.

Agree. Never could understand the majority on here making out he was a superb fullback and not just a hardworking honest footballer. I'm surprised that after the 'knighthood' they haven't been clamouring for Hodgson to make him England captain!

It isn't that people dislike Bobby, they just don't rate him as highly as some others do on here.
I don't think he is good enough at full back but I do think he is a better CH than Wiseman and MacNulty and I would play him there unless the new manager brings a half decent CH in.
