If They erect that statue of him in Town I will personally start a campaig to raise money to get more pigeons. The guy is a freeloader!!!
he was on sky sports news yesterday saying he as supported us all his life(fair enough he probably has) and been a season ticket holder for 60 years. lol
Two facts for you He has been a season ticket holder for longer than you've been alive. He is a great ambassador for the town. Your jealous of his little flat hat and the fact that he gets to go in the posh seats
Why the vitriole? Dickie Bird promotes the town at every opportunity and never has a bad word to say about the town or its people. Spent all his life living in Barnsley when he could quite easily afford to live in Derbyshire, the coast or anywhere else. Seen him at Oakwell loads of times and not just the big games in the Cup.There seems to be a resentment amongst a lot of Barnsley people about anyone witha bit of fame or fortune.Don't understand it myself.
Seen him quite a few times down at Oakwell, and a fair few away games. Fair enough he may get the 'top' seats but guess that is through contacts. If people are going to slag so called 'grabbing' fans then they can look at fair few others before Dickie
RE: Why the vitriole? Totally agree. Those making the derogatory comments have in all probability never met the man. Whilst i could put forward another couple of names who probably deserve the recognition of a statue in the town, as far as BFC is concerned, he is a staunch supporter, who i have seen many many times at the ground over the past 40 years.
Why do some people in Barnsley hate their own kind Its got to be jealousy There is a generally feeling in Barnsley that people don't like any anybody from the town having anything like success As a town we revel in FAILURE And its because the town is full to bursting with dead beats who can't get off their arse to achive anything in their simple rotten lives Michael Parkinson, Dicky Bird, Darren Gough, Mick McCarthy ...........have all been fantastic ambassadors for OUR town Well done lads (clap) (clap) (clap) (clap) (clap) (clap)
Michael Parkinson for 1950's Barnsley maybe. Were Reading playing on Saturday? Keep Parky away. The ****.
I recon the hate success syndrome of the British Isles originated int tarn, unless ofcourse its owt to do with the WELL
RE: Why do some people in Barnsley hate their own kind In what material particular is Mr Parkinson a worthy ambassador for our town? All he has done is describe it in terms of a seventeenth century hovel where flat caps ferrets and grime abounds. His football remembrances amount to nothing beyond steel toe capped bruisers kicking wingers off quagmire steeped pitches. And he naffed off down south to excercise witless sycophancy and sickly ego massaging towards largely air headed "celebrities". He got rich on the town, not the other way around.
