Why do people feel that they have to slag Dickie Bird ? The man is liked and respected throughout the world, he has a season ticket at Oakwell, which he pays for, he talks about the town in a positive light, yet he is slagged off on here every day , WHY? (dunno) (dunno)

Just a blatant statement nothing to back it up. I have met him many times and I always mention Barnsley FC and he is full of enthusiasm. A lifelong season ticket holder and he`s proud to come from Barnsley. Why knock a guy for that? I don`t understand some attitudes on here. The guy is successful, ah maybe that`s the problem.</p> </p>
Well... If people talked about me like some people do after achieving what he's done and being who he is, then I'd probably be rude sometimes. Let's face it, we're all selfish, rude and misguided every now and again. He's only human.
RE: Well... There were 55 of us that witnessed his actions, all 55 now have the same opinion of him. I can only judge him on what i've seen, we've all heard rumours and stories about him esp his tightness when it comes to money. I've heard loads, i lived about a 5 minute walk away from his house for 26 years. But i'm basing my opinion on his disgraceful attitude and actions not so many years ago.

Nope, it's the name he was born with. The media love Dickie, he is a person who enjoys the limelight. I don't think it's his fault he gets noticed where ever he goes. he is a Barnsley fan, they are going to errect a statue of him somewere in Barnsley, probably near a weeping willow tree. Rudeness? I was stood behind him in the queue at Asda last Friday. He had quite a few things and I only had about five things. He just said after you young man. You’ll be waiting ages for me. No idea how people can hate him. Can only be jealously I suppose as I see no other reason to not like someone you don’t know. Top man. Spoke to him many times before in the days I was forced to play Cricket in my pre teen days. I was allegedly quite good but it is something I didn’t enjoy.
I'd rather have someone with talent like Kate rusby or Ian Mc Millan as an envoy for barnsley than 'Sir Bird' 1. He earns a considerable amount of money from guest appearances etc 2. You only see him when there's press or media coverage. 3. His crying antics make me physically sick. 4. Mr cryne has done far more for the club and the town and all in a quiet dignified manor not seeking attention. 5. As for Scargill I didn't see Dickie marching and protesting during the miners strike he was too busy sunning himself at some 'important cricket match'!
