crying over Tommy Taylor now ! T'other night he was crying on radio 5 'cos the council is going to errect a statue of him ( Dicky that is) in the town centre. Before christmas he was on Channel 4 sobbing about Michael Parkinson. The guy is an emotional wreck.

What's wrong with him do you think ? :'( :'(

    Yes

They grew up together, I think there both from Monk Bretton. I interviewed him once years ago, they both got trials at Oakwell when they were younger, Tommy chose football and Dickie chose Cricket. Dickie said that they used to spend hours on the pitch and Tommy would just have Dickie crossing the ball in for him to practice his heading. Im not suprised he was upset.

    RE: Yes

Dickie Bird chose Cricket because of a knee injury stopping him playing football

Someone made a good point on here earlier that the statue should also be a water feature with water spurting from his eyes. :'( :D
