After the game? Complete arsehole in a little white van coming down the slip road at a slow speed then decided to floor it when the crowd started crossing, not only did he almost hit her with the van he almost took her head off with a ladder he had on the roof that was overhanging the bonnet by about 4 foot.
Idiot. It always amazes me the way people drive through the football traffic, you'll always see at least one idiot driver after a home game. I mean what do you expect people to do? Walk on the pavement?
He nearly hit me as well - trying to pull out in front of another white van, had no regard for everyone crossing the road.
Yes walk on the pavement when there's no bugger on it - It amazes me how many people walk up the middle of Bala St on match days when there is clearly room on the pavements for them. I lived half way up there for 20 years and it wasnt that bad when we had 15 / 20 thousand fans turning up. And as for crossing the slip road from Harboro hills , why dont they just put a copper on there stopping traffic. I seemed to remember in the premier league days we had one directing traffic.
I think he was expecting the police to protect him and his arse dropped when he realised the police where not happy with his actions. He was a hard man though threatening to kill people as he drove away
I see people nearly run over every week after the game. It's never me though, wonder why that is? Maybe it's because I give cars the right of way on the ROADS.
I think people just think that the normal rules of the road are suspended after a game. There are idiots on both sides - drivers and pedestrians who think they have complete right of way everywhere.
The Highway Code states: Rule 170 Take extra care at junctions. You shouldwatch out for pedestrians crossing a road into which you are turning. If they have started to cross they have priority, so give way. I wasn't there so don't know the full circumstances of how this guy nearly took the lady out but if she was already crossing then he should have waited.
On the other side, I almost hit someone yesterday on Ponte road who decided to walk (not run) in between my car and the car in front after the game. To my amazement, his 2 mates decided to follow. Why do people think they have a the right of way when crossing the road after the match. Luckily I was smart enough to be travelling at about 15mph in case of such occurrence or else I may have hit them.
In your case Archey you would have the right of way and people should wait. I know people don't though and expect the cars to stop.
But would you bet your life on that...cos some clearly do...The one thing I would say..which I expect know one to heed is.. That little voice in the head that tells you to cross when its busy is obviously not the mate you thought it was, turn your attention to that, and question that, not other traffic the you have absolutely no control over..
