In the late 70s a bloke used to take his dog to Oakwell every game, he was an elderly chap who often wore a trilby. The bloke used to lay down on the Spion Kop facing the field of play and his dog was a fox terrier type dog and faithfully sat with him all game. We always used to look for him when we got in the ground and he was easily spotted because the Spion Kop was sparsely populated in those days. Brilliant memories.
If its the same bloke and dog, he used to stand under brewery stand when attacking ponty end and spion cop when attacking that end. We all used to move ends at half time in those days. The dog I remember though was a Yorkie.
It used to be a regular occurence at Oakwell, dog on the pitch, more entertaining than the football at times.
Maybe each team should be allowed a dog on the pitch moment, used in a time out way to halt proceedings. Twould get some weight of those stewards.
Televised fa cup 6th tie at Oakwell 84/85 season vs Liverpool lost 4-0 didnt Rush score all 4? black dog ran on pitch much to Saint n Greavsie's amusement.
That made me think of Uncle Mort RIP and his Bess I could imagine Morty doing that before grounds became all seater and smoke free.
