Well, did they get it right by sacking Davey. I'm pretty sure I know what the outcome of this poll is going to be but some comments like 'it was the minority of fans being louder than the majority that got him sacked' etc.

    Right decision..... wrong time...

Should have gone in the summer.... look at the mess we are in now. The window is closed so who ever takes over will have to make do with a team them have had no input to putting together!!

    Absolutely

The only mistake that the board can be criticised for IMHO is the fact that they didn't sack him on the last day of last season when he really should've gone - then we could've got this out of the way before the season began and the new manager could've brought some of his own players in / started to address some of the weaknesses that Davey has clearly over looked.

Davey was well out of his depth - and by the end of last season I had quite an irrational dislike for the bloke. Despite the fact that I knew he was doing his best and only wanted to succeed I had just got so fed up with his silly tactics and his useless performances (hanging on to a slender one goal lead only to conceed in the last ten minutes - knowing that if any team scored two we were sunk etc) that I was convinced that his lack of professional ability was going to take the club into the lower leagues. On more than one occasion last season I actually thought we were down. I was genuinely resigned to it.

The way this season has started in absolutely in line with the performance trend he set last year - which was a negative one - the only reason we didn't go down last year was because the decline was just (only just mind) not rapid enough to have us in a relegation spot on the last day of the season (that and the nose dive of Norwich I suppose). Starting this season with that kind of form just had relegation written all over it (relegation as the bottom club too). He had to go. Absolutely had to.

I've tried to be nice about him - it's like not speaking ill of the dead - but really(cup run to one side) the football wasn't very attractive, the performances were at times diabolical, we didn't score enough goals, we weren't very well organised, we had far too many 'bogie teams' (home and away) - there were very few silver linings. I always had the feeling that the players were under performing (yet to be seen). No amount of sentimentality could ever disguise that, even if he is a lovely bloke and even if Bobby Hassell did have a tear in his eye.

I was prepared to support him at the start of the season.

But after the displays against Coventry, Preston, and especially Reading, even I realised he would have to go.

    9 No's so far

That surprises me unless they are saying they made the wrong decision earlier

For me right decision 5 league games too late

Once the board decided to give him another chance I was prepared to give him a couple of months but after 5 games it was clear what we already suspected - Things were not better nor likely to be

Just shows how fickle some people are...

...didn't take some long to get the rose tinted spectacles on did it? I mean, on Saturday afternoon there definately weren't nine people on here saying that he needed more time. Now all of a suddent we've got nine Simon Davey advocates. I'm bemused. The bloke had to go, and I'm convinced that we're infinitely better off.
