Was unsure

Was impossible to be sure when he had no experience. Obviously this made me feel a little uncomfortable about his appointment. Still not sure either, but absolutely well done so far and more power to him. I hope he does prove to be a cracking manager! :)

Nope, not at all, thought it was a rushed appointment, badly thought out. Soon proved me wrong though.

Don't judge a book by it's cover (or lack of managerial experience), even if it is Welsh

    Honest answer:

other than the Chairman and Davey himself, anyone who says yes would be fibbing.

Nobody is gonna believe me but i'll say it anyway, as it's a fair enough question. I'm not saying I thought he was a good appointment at all, BUT I did have a gut feeling that he could be good for us.

The job isn't finished anyway yet, things still could go completely wrong - but I don't expect them to.

Don't think anybody would have expected him to do this well this season. His work in the transfer market has been pretty impressive.

Follow drivers link and read what I said then.................

I don't think I could be accused of of changing my mind about Simon. I just had a feeling he would be ok.

Mind you, I had been to Oakwell to see what the previous management team were doing to get things right. Basil Brush would have been an improvement.

Tina Tyke can also hold her head high. She was supportive from the start , if my memory serves me right.

Nope. Was gutted when his appointment was announced

However, some of the very personal abuse he sustained in the immediate aftermath was wholly inappropriate. I wished him well from the outset if only to shut up some of the ignorant wazzocks who couldn't help but wax lyrical about his shortcomings, long before he'd had chance to demonstrate what, if any, ability he actually had.

People still talk of the Chopra booing incident as the fans' lowest ebb but personally, I think what Davey had to contend with was considerably more vitriolic and sustained.

Then again, the morning after a 3-0 home reverse to the Fowls, you could perhaps say the timing of the announcement didn't help his cause.
