He was critical of the transfer plan at the time.... next thing he was gone. Is history about to repeat itself? If, and I say if, the "powers that be" do not appear to be backing the financing of players coming to the end of their contracts then what is their view of a manager who is prepared to openly criticise them, cos they are the ones he is referring to. He is probably as expendable as the players, put up or shut up (and go forth!)
He did, and Keith Hill eluded to it as well in his time here. I'm not getting into the blame the board stuff, as I don't have a clue what goes on behind the scenes, but I don't see anything changing anytime soon. Didn't Robins have a budget cut?
Yes, after targets based on the budget for the following season had been agreed. When told about the reduction in budget he wanted time to consider how it would impact the planning, given it meant chucking it all away. Instead he was sacked.
Spot of gardening leave coming up or what ....those in charge dont like home truths do they ....well said Hecky ...at least we have another Barnsley lad telling it how it is regardless of what the outcome maybe
Robins got gardening leave - meant he coudn't manage anyone else for a season. But he was sacked when he asked for time to consider the impact of budget promises being changed - I think due to Crynes impending court case. Dont really know whats happening this time round and I hope its not likely Hecky will be shown the door
Ive said it before on here that I had a tradesman working on my house and before that told me the job before he was at Mark Robins house and after afew days told him he was a tarn fan and asked him what went off at Barnsley for him to leave. Mark Robins replied he really liked the club and fans but he felt conference clubs were being run better and felt he had no choice to leave. Ive been all in with this buy cheap grow em and sell em big and repeat but now I aint so sure. We will lose Hecky very shortly, he deserves better....weve been conned.
I listened to Hecky's interview on Radio Sheffield and have just been reading his comments on the Clubs website. The latter doesn't include any reference to his criticism of not having the required number of players at his disposal. I am growing concerned that given that what he did say is true and re-iterates what some have been saying on this forum it could have serious ramifications for Hecky's future. The usual modus operandi is to air your grievances with your owner/ Chairman/ CEO/ Board but keep any criticism " in house" . Airing his views might prove to be very unwise in my opinion. He had a go a few weeks ago and although I admire him for his frankness should he be voicing his concerns in such a public way.? It's surely putting pressure on the Board and PC and they could be prompted to do something to alleviate the pressure by doing something that proves very unpopular with the fan base. Let's hope that that doesn't happen. Like every one of us he cares deeply for the Club and he's frustrated with our current lack of success in getting in the players we need. https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/2017/july/hecky-rotherham/
Part of me thinks Hecky was speaking as a fan ! He talked like a fan in his interview. The sort of things any of us would say to a mate when we know the boss isn't in earshot but knowing it will get back! He's a fan through and through first and foremost. As a fan he will be hurting as we all are and as Manager he must be wondering how on earth he's going to move these players forward. His criticism of the team was harsh but fair under the circumstances. He's been talking for months about replacements, expecting players in has proved to have been largely misplaced optimism so far. What on earth is the Board playing at ? It's getting behind ridiculous now.
I just wonder who Hecky had in mind when he said people were not listening? Honestly can't see it being GG- hardly been in position a couple of months so not easy to see how he's developed a power base. PC- can't see that either - think given Partick's illness Hecky would have been more circumspect. So we are left with Barry Taylor or more likely in my opinion the Chairman. I am pretty amazed we never hear from him. Surely much of what the manager is being asked to comment on is more rightly handled by a senior board member? Judging by his wiki list of other commitments BFC is very, very part-time role for him. No wonder it takes an age to get anything done.
I'm betting it's Robert Zuk, BFC's own version of Austerity Spreadsheet Phil. Knows the price of everything and the value of nothing.
Rumbled (but I have heard he's PC's man and was appointed about the time Patrick was sadly diagnosed).
