Agree that Davey had perhaps gone as far as he could - Timing is a bit dodgy though. Don't we have to be realistic - All these names being thrown around: Curbishley, Jewell, Boothroyd etc - We are hardly in a position to be an attractive proposition to a prospective manager!! Would love to see an experienced, successful boss but I think we will have to consider ourselves lucky with whoever we get .... And then bloody-well get behind the new gaffer and the team. Too much negativity at Oakwell!
Rubbish Timing's good - they have nearly a whole season to turn it round rather than a few weeks... yes the window's closing but we've a good enough squad if we can a left back on loan. I disagree that we're an unattractive proposition. Those managers are unemployed and I doubt whether Jewell or Boothroyd would get a Premier League job and both should feel they have a point to prove from their last jobs. We have a decent underachieving squad, which in my opinion under the right tutilage, has the capability of doing much better. Some people accuse me of being negative, but 90% of BFC fans are a lot more negative than me.
You're wasting your time Journo too many people now see the trough of 2002-6 as the norm and anything above that as being something to be grateful for **** knows why
RE: Rubbish Agree that they could do much better. Would love to see a storm up the table under new man - not sure we have defence or strike force for that though. I would be happy with lower mid-table this season to be honest, as long as we aren't scrapping for survival
I don't understand why we are such a poor proposition for a manager Championship club with a GOOD crowd for a bottom of the league poorly performing team, 40+ games to sort out the mess and make themselves look like a hero. An owner who has shown he will back his manager financially. And above all else, the best placed managerless team in the entire country. Lets put that into perspective here, for all the managers out of work we are the best placed club with a job vacancy. The best in the entire country
Agree with the last part I think if Gray, Hume and Boggy get/stay fit then we'll be fine for goals but the defence does need to sort itself out yes. A left back would be a start.
Both Boothroyd and Jewell have good records overall Promotions out of this division and then difficult circumstances saw them leave their jobs for different reasons.
FAIR POINT Hadn't looked at it that way. The timing - window closed - might be off-putting though. To be a 'hero' he would be looking at changes surely. Let's hope you're right and the applications come in ... Unless the Club already have someone in mind
I was thinking that earlier apparantly the present owner has a man lined up should the takeover fall through. Not doing bad at them moment bart a manager mindsthi..
Bart a manager We need it sorting though! It wouldn't be good for us to go for too long without a manager.
