And it's a team game, so you shouldn't blame one player. And you definitely shouldn't comment after sinking a few beers and it being so close to the final whistle. But I really wish Steven Gerrard would just **** off. That's probably completely unfair, but I don't feel like being fair.
Look on the bright side, we play Crawley Town in 51 days and Steven Gerrard won't be anywhere near Oakwell.
Can he take Glen Johnson with him. Then we can get rid of one crap player, one player who just makes mahooosive mistakes in mahooosive games, and we can get rid of the Liverpool - media love-in.
Haven't felt anything for England for a long time now, always planned to watch the game but can't say I was particularly excited and my emotions never moved throughout the game. This is the second game of the world cup I've watched, the first being Italy v England. Hate football, love Barnsley.
On the plus side, there's a few players tonight will look at themselves and realise they are League 1 standard at best. If Danny boy is quick enough ..... Just a thought.
Personally, I am finding the failure, yet again, of players we are constantly being told are 'world class' quite funny. These players are only world class because the media in this country keeps telling us they are. Tournament after tournament they flop. Thanks to their attitude and the top players/clubs' total disregard for anything below the Premiership it was difficult to drum up any enthusiasm for them anyway, but I am getting more enjoyment than I thought I would about their failure. Particularly when the adverts come on and the moneygrabbing gets are acting like worldbeaters! But I am being very naive. Somehow, someone high up the football food chain in this country will use this failure to further stiff the rest of the league. Reducing the Premiership, revisiting the B team nonsense or something like that.
Premier league will not be as attractive if Fifa get their way and we have to play more English p!ayers
At least we can enjoy the football now and watch teams that can actually play. As good as we were against Italy we were back to boring boring England tonight. Trying to remember the last time I actually cared about England I'm thinking Euro 96 before the full impact of the Premiershit had hit hone. Gerrard no great shakes but the defence was as poor at their level as ours was at championship level last season. Henderson a poor player at that level far inferior to Lilanna but plays for a big team. Once more players picked on reputation rather than form. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
After the positive way we went forward against Italy. We swap everyone around and completely try it differently. Baffling
Spot on. Finally people are seeing it. And it's not just just the second goal either. The fannies tackle in midfield that cost us the first. The constant optomistic diagonal punts from one corner to another. The string of *****ed set pieces. The being carried by Jordan Henderson for 90 minutes. A holding midfield player that can't pass, tackle or run. What the actual fck?
I doubt I'll watch any more of the world cup. Only watched 2 games so far, both England games. I've lost all love for football, for all the reasons everyone has put forward on this BBS all year. I've agreed with what everyone has said, so I'm not going to be part of the celebrations and help justify what the sport has become. I love Barnsley, I support, to a far lesser extent, England, but I don't support football, not any more.
That's the thing, people think it's just the goal. That was the least of my worries. His performance was horrific.
They only had one world class player to watch out of the whole squad and couldn't,t manage it . Maybe its a blessing cos if we had Got through and met teams with four, five, six and seven top world class players we would have been severely punished imo
I thought that you couldn't get away with as much abroad than in England - yet that ref allowed so much to go and Uruguay should have been down to 10 men, and a straight red at that, not even a 2nd yellow.
Can't disagree with any of that to be fair though I'm enjoying watching the Dutch, Chileans and Germans who play like they still have joy in their souls and star dust in their boots. If they went out I would knock it on the head myself
