I like the lad. I hope he plays a big part in our future. Big, strong, looks like a player to me. Can pass and is obviously held in high regard for his international age group.

Fitness, growth wise is deffo an iffy area?!?!? I hope this is a 'passing phase' and he grows thro it.

I know of no other team that has a home grown, England u19-20 player that gets 'stick' from his own fans. I reckon and hope the lad fulfils his potential and grows with us. His position may change?!? CH? CMF? DMF? Who knows.....

Look forrad to the lad having a great pre season and be in the starting XI come August.

Ryan Mason, Tottenham, just broken through at 23. Mental people wanted us to release a kid who's in and around the England squads. Especially one who's had so many injury problems

I'm gonna make a big prediction that if he's injury free that he'll make us more money than Holgate!

Hope we get good service from them both but I reckon we'll cash in at some point. Hope so cos that means they've been excellent

It's not looking good for him as when I saw him a few years ago I thought he was good...couple of other players I thought were good in no particular order:

    1. Dominic Werling
    2. Brek Shea
    3. Kim Christensen
    4. Jamie Cureton
    5. Goran Lovre

I saw him against Peterborough for the first time and I am usually a glass is half full type of guy especially when it comes to our home grown players but I have to admit he was every bit as bad as folk had made out. I'm not going to judge him on that one appearance but from I saw and subsequently read it appears he needs regular first team football. I'm glad we've kept him on but I feel a couple of months out on loan at the start of next season is probably the wisest move. Hopefully he can grew into being a professional footballer and gain some confidence away from the boo boys and come back the player we hope he can be.

Right then, here's the old 'feedback sandwich'!

I remember Ben M, at one of the pre-season gatherings saying that "people here are potentially more excited about Paul Digby than they were about John Stones!" Also, it was always of huge interest that he had attracted the attention of the England youth squad and been a fairly regular starter. The lad must have something, or so it seemed.

His appearances for us so far have been underwhelming, to say the least. He's puffed like an old carthorse after just a few minutes in several of the games I've seen him in. His lack of pace and the negativity and inaccuracy of his passing has on occasions been woeful. His lack of physical presence for a lad of his size is disappointing. True, he's not had regular starts, but you get those when you make the gaffer and coaches think you're worthy of a place. One or two cameo appearances late this season have looked a little more promising, but even then have not taken him to the level of Pearson or Scowen.

More encouraging though is the impression that Lee has seemingly taken a shine to him. I'm quite sure that Lee would not do this lightly, or unless he and Tommy felt they could really make something of the lad. There's no doubting the raw material is there, and clearly others have seen something in him above what has been apparent in his Oakwell displays. So it's going to be a point of major interest next season to see whether Lee and Tommy will manage to unlock his alleged potential.

What's given you the impression Johnson has taken a shine to him , is it purely down to him not being released.

I think he needs to go straight out on loan at the beginning of the season and experience some regular League football , probably in League 2.

If he doesn't crack on this season then it's probably time to say goodbye . If he does crack on and step up then great stuff , but time is running out for him here .... quickly.

He needs Fu'cking off to Halifax or Chester both sides play football that suites him, 12 months at that level will do him the world of good, the thing that strikes me is everyone thinks he's going to be a good player apart from the people that's managed him none of the five manages he's worked under have taken a punt on him and given him a run

Given the fact that you mostly spout rubbish I'm greatly encouraged. For what it's worth, I think he'll end up doing well.

Digby will do well for us.Most of his games for us he has tended to play the way he plays for England, safety first keeping possession at all times even if it means passing the ball back.In his last game for us Johnson told him he would kick his backside every time he passed the ball back, so we then saw a Digby who constantly passed forward but also drove forward when he had the ball.He should play the way England want him to when on international duty but play the way Lee Johnson wants him to when playing club football.

He's either not good enough for pub league football or potentially better than John Stones.
Depending on whose opinion you read on this board.

Time will tell but anyone suggesting to get shut of him now is surely bonkers?

Give him another season , if he doesn't push for first team place then it's time to say goodbye and get him off the payroll.
He hasn't shown any signs of improving over the last two seasons.
It could be said he hasn't had many chances but when he has had a game he's been poor bar Blackpool away ages ago.
Holgate , Stones , Smith took their chances Digby hasn't.

Could argue that up to now nobody had given him much of a chance. Shades of RNL maybe. Maybe he will come good under LJ. Hope so. He could save us a lot of money and then make us plenty when sold to a big club.

Agreed, but I'd say the same about Rhys Oates. Unfortunately, Johnson didn't just suggest we get shut, he went ahead and did it.

Not saying Oates would have made it, don't know if Digby will, but both have shown enough to be offered the chance. Unfortunately, one of them has been moved along.
