Will be interesting to see where he ends up. If he doesn't get a big move, you'd have to ask why we didn't offer him a contract if we had an affordable option to buy like Murphy insisted.

Because it was clear we wouldn’t be able to meet his demands. No point offering him £10k a week if he’s asking for £40k.

Because we never did. All we got was spin from Murphy - if we had thought he was that good we should have agreed a deal that should have just been a formality later on regardless of how well the loan went. We never did.

But it depends how long a contract offer can be open for, in the terms of the loan option. Could've made the offer, and in the absence of any other offers he would've had something to think about.

In the end, the story was that we didn't take up the option to buy. We should've taken that option and put the onus on Dike and his agent.

He was never gonna sign for us, unless we were promoted. He added a lot last season. Thought Carlton Morris was the better all round player, Dike was still learning his trade & his rough edges caused a lot of problems. Maybe Leeds would be interested in him as an impact sub? Couldn't see him walking into their first team, unless they had serious injuries.

I would tend to agree. He is not a finished article by any means and still plenty of development needed. He would be a slightly risky punt for Leeds imo.

I don't understand why a loan with an option to buy the player for an agreed fee doesn't also include an agreement on the players wages.
It's like making an announcement that you have an option to buy a football ground and then stalling for two years whilst you negotiate about it. Essentially you had no clause at all

No cos it would all be agreed upfront so all parties would be happy at that point in time.

From memory I think we signed Cauley on a loan with a perm deal agreed that was completed in Jan.

Who'd sign that kind of wage deal though if you were confident of doing well?
You can either have 7k a week now(on verge of usa team) or well see what we can get you if you do well?
I know which I'd have gone for at his age and it wouldn't have been the magnificent red army.

Why would it be slavery for a player to agree a contract?
