Having just listened to Collins pre match interview before tomorrow he mentions Mick Mccarthy a few times...from his playing days and Mick managing him. Surely this would be a great appointment and a fan pleaser..
I’d rather stick with Hassell. Knows the club inside out having worked in it for years, established connections and relationships with manager, board members, players and coaches. See how he does this window but there’s a lot to be said for those pre-existing relationships
Why? Micks been and gone. He was a good servant to the club, but so was Bobby and I would prefer him to have a crack at it and i believe he is on record as wanting to pursue this career path.
After we've sorted this one out, we should appoint a Director Of Common Sense. Maybe then we can avoid any more basic errors on the non-playing side of things.
I reckon Bobby will get the Job permanently if he comes good in the transfer window. Appears to have been instrumental in Getting Pines over the line.
Best part of 40 years since MM left Barnsley. Would prefer to remember him as the Rolls Royce he was. Bobby more relevant.
Didn’t they say we had some really high caliber applications though? Then it went really quiet, maybe the wages didn’t match expectations? Just seems strange that there has been nothing since
On what basis would it be a great appointment? Mick should come nowhere near the club now as I'd hate him to tarnish his reputation. Personally I don't think it's a job suited to him.
Would have thought after making him interim it would make more sense to let him finish this window and then review rather than bring someone in and risk undoing any work he has done.
My theory is that the role was fashioned for Bobby, and announced not least at a time when the natives were getting a little restless and such a post made sense. The job advert was mere lip service.
Bobby also praised the recruitment team for starting the process. It seems Pines was a target before Bobby started his job as DOF.I dare say Kahled was at the start of the Pines deal.
I like Bobby and I certainly wouldn't mind if he got the job, but I do wonder if now might be the time to bring fresh ideas into the club and maybe somebody with better contacts.
Alternatively it might be the continuity which Hassell brings that helped get us Yonganathan and Jalo for a few more years. I can see arguments on both sides, to be honest. No way of knowing without seeing the CVs which have landed!
Agree with this. For me we need to be aiming to retain the talent we have, like Yonganathan & Jalo & others. We are never going to have a big cheque book for signings, scouts & statistical analysis feed into the recruitment process for us. I personally hope we appoint Bobby, but I only have the info most fans have.
