As some may be aware, tomorrow Stagecoach drivers ballot on the"latest" pay offer. The ballot, as has happened multitudes of times before is to be held in our canteen and overseen by a retired driver, again something that has happened many many times before.
Anyhow, this morning our union secretary was summoned into the office and informed that because the gentleman in question was not an employee they were well within their rights to refuse him access to the building. If this were to happen they wanted the right to appoint a member of staff, not management but a salaried office worker to scrutinise the ballot. Our secretary flatly refused and immediately informed the full time officer dealing with our dispute of the situation.
When I left work this afternoon I was not aware how the current situation stands.

Not dirty tactics at all, standard procedure to have a fellow employee of the company or a accredited Union offical oversee such matters.

Umm trouble is they've never felt the need to do that before and also I forgot to mentiont he union secretary previously had been informed that his duty would be covered to allow him to oversee the ballot but then suddenly the cover was withdrawn.

Stagecoach need a good kicking. It's a shame this isn't a national strike.

Why? Stagecoach near me the service offered is the exact polar opposite to the service offered in barnsley.

You need to get your case out into the public domain more.

Other Unions should ask all their members to boycott Stagecoach services and run that cowboy outfit out of town.

The next Labour Governmenmt should Nationalise the bus industry without compensation and reclaim what Thatcher gave away in the 80s.

Bring back the National Bus Company.

If all promises of support made at the last strike come to fruition there should be support from first bus drivers arriva drivers barnsley trades council unison and one or two other organisations. I have asked before if there is an alternative service, first bus, arriva, tates, red line t m etc please use them. If you don't HAVE to come into town on monday come another day, obviously workers are another case its shoppers pensioners etc if you don't have to travel don't.
