Gutting result and performance yesterday, just knocked the wind out of me. But, again, FFS lads. Danny has made a very poor side very hard to beat in a very short space of time. He's done that because he looked at the ***** he had available post Huddersfield and thought 'this is how it has to be'. Unfortunately that's not worked particularly well at home. It's meant the first goal has been important and we've not managed to do it ay home. It's also meant we're reliant on Jennings/Cywka/McLaughlin. 2 of those playing their first proper season (and one coming back from various injuries) & Cywka has always been unreliable. These are the players at Danny's disposal so unfortunately they're always going to be inconsistent. I don't think the problem was one up front, the problem was the lack of service and help we gave O'Grady from those who were asked to do it. Then there's the 'he should have changed it' argument. Maybe. But he brought our most enigmatic laiker on with half an hour to go. Couldn't make a pass. He brought our second striker on with 20 - nowhere near the ball. And then what other options did he have? He's not exactly blessed is he? And then there's the 'the players he's brought in have been ****' argument. Most have been disappointing. All were a massive gamble and not paid off. Frimpong/Woods/Proschwitz/Hunt all came to us because they were just back from injury and only ones available. Not exactly Danny meticulously planning and saying 'I want them'. He's said 'they'll do'. I'm as disappointed as anyone but it's frsutrating to come on here after every defeat and see 'Wilson's ****'. No wonder boards of directors sack managers all the time - they sack 'em because supporters want 'em to. And then supporters get on the hump that we don't progress. The right man. The right time. Patience required. If anyone honestly believes those are the players and the style Danny wants to play then you're a f.cking dick.
you should be ashamed of this post you of all people really oughta know that common sense is just simply not allowed on here.
Four defeats in five at home without scoring? I'd say we're piss easy to beat. One goal should do it.
You've almost grasped it there, while still only one nil down, we've still got a chance of a pen or a free kick or even a fluke. Everyone must know if we ever go 2 down, home or away, thats it, game over Its so easy to see what Danny is/was trying to do, cos we were shipping goals for fun..
Sorry I didn't get to see you yesterday, mate. I got dropped off quite early by Crystal. Her and Laura were going shopping and Laura was wanting to meet you before they went. Ah, well. Never mind.
Nowt to grasp I'm afraid so ixnay on the condescending attitude - doesn't suit you. Doesn't matter if it's one or five - as soon as we concede it's game over.
If Danny continues with the same tactics as the one's he persists with next season attendances will plummet as i'm sure people will have better things to spend their money on. Didn't expect miracles, survival was always a tough ask with the mess were in, but what i hoped for was a Manager who would react to what aspires on the pitch in relation to tactics and formations to allow us the best possible chance to survive. Instead what I've witnessed in the last 5 home games is some of the most dire and negative tactics deployed by any manager we have had in the last 30yrs. Wilson in not to blame for the mess the club is in and yes patience is required but is he the man to lead us forward? ( He will be in charge next season) A big No from me
We are way too easy to beat at home. We have played into our opponents hands, lump it up to O'Grady, and defences love it! They come, get a goal then sit back knowing full well we have no ideas, just like Leeds did yesterday, never been as bored and unexcited at a football match as i was yesterday.
This is a great post, really really good and fitting of a guy who creates a fanzine. Top marks Perfectly sums it up for me Roll on League 1.......yooooooooooo reds
Do you really think he's going to play one up front? He was playing Pedersen up there until he got injured. Just unfortunate Proscwhitz hasn't worked.
Home form been very poor but if we'd have won 3 from 4 at home but been poor away this place would be very different.
Whilst we have got better defensively the margin goal wise isn`t as big as you may think. Huddersfield, Watford, Leicester a few thumpings in there.
You gotta say Wilson has been unlucky with Peds. Played him at both Reading and Yeovil and I'm sure he would have partnered COG for rest of season. Next term Wilson must follow Brendan Rogers blueprint. He needs a couple of pacey strikers. Sit Hassell in front of Big Jean and Tangs and sign a goal scoring midfielder along with a few more footballers to partner Jenno and RNL and go for it every game. Press press press and ****in attack and kill teams. Offence offence offence!!!!!!!!!
I think you are being extremely charitable regarding the three signings mentioned. Frimpong in particular was just plain crazy.
Woods is an experienced Championship player who was available on a short term deal and wouldn't take up a loan spot that already had McLaughlin/Pedersen/Ramage taking up space. How many other players like him were available? In our position in January we had to take risks. Unfortunately they've not paid off. That's how it goes. Again, struggle to see who else was available to us at the time when we had to ship out Flicker's lads sharpish. We've given it a go this season under Danny, performing much better under him than Flitcroft, and it's still not over. Next year and the year after the real test.
