I have thought about this for a while now. British top tier football is becoming stale. Only the top 4 clubs can afford to pay the top player's wages. I cannot see this domination being broken anytime soon as the rich are simply getting richer each day. I know that the Football League has adopted a sort of salary cap where a club can only have a wage bill that is a certain percentage of their income but this is more to do with administration rather than equality. One of the biggest attractions with lower league football is the unpredictability of who will do well each year. Would a salary cap bring this to the Premier League? For those of you unsure of the ins and outs of the salary cap in the USA you can see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salary_cap
they made the "Beckham Rule" just to get him to play over there I believe it allows each team to pay one player more than the salary cap
There are more loopholes and work-arounds to the salary cap rule it's unreal. This is definitely the case in NBA at least. There are a hundred and one reasons why a player can be paid more than the salary cap suggests.
