I'm really dissapointed that Wilsons been sacked. I was hoping that he would get things on track even though I have never been convinced the appointment wasn't right at the outset. In my mind too much based on the emotional history rather than him being right for the job. However I sincerelly hoped he would succeed. There is a lot of emotion and anger at his sacking but I felt it was coming after the recent performances of which Tuesday was one of the worst. I had always feared that while ever we were going downhill over the 14 months in charge with no evidence of a sustained upward trend, despite how slow, he was at risk. As they say it's a results game. But I'm A Barnsley fan first and foremost and will support the new manager whoever he is to steer the ship upwards. I didn't boo on Tuesday despite being bitterly angry and frustrated (a common feeling this season). It's now a shame that some people will abandon the club due to him being fired, I'm sure those will go and watch his new club? But people were also abandoning the club while he stayed. So now we should look forward to backing the new manager and let his loyalty and support come from positive progression with good results and entertaining footy. After all that's what we all seem to want. I think if Danny left some bad performances and poor entertainment value behind, at least I believe the majority of his signings will come good under the right system and gameplay. Yooooo Reds.
Good post I support barnsley fc and will support the new manager who ever it maybe. I wish wilson luck but shame some turn there bavk on the club because a manager who hasnt been good enough has gone.
When Flicker was sacked I wanted Mellon to get the job at least until the end of the season, I just felt he deserved the chance and it would have offered us some continuity. Having said that I was delighted when Danny was appointed and even more so that Mellon was being kept on but it didn't work out and Mellon was let go. With Danny in charge I always thought that this season was going to be a season of rebuilding, and that would have been the case whoever was brought in, so for me this season was always going to be a difficult one with very inconsistent performances and results which is exactly how it has turned out. To pull the trigger now is an amazingly bad decision in my opinion and just sets us back to the beginning of the road that the board started us on. Danny is gone and I'm bitterly disappointed. I don't know how I feel anymore because we are just constantly following the same unsuccessful template. I'll probably calm down and renew but right now I am seriously questioning whether its worth my time to keep on watching a club who don't have the patience to back a good manager through difficult times, some of which have been forced on him in the first place.
The performances havent been inconsistent mate I didnt go against fleetwood my brother told me it was terrible though. Donny was embarrassing infact bristol gillingham burton have been our best performances this season. The football on a whole has been terrible to watch.
I think it's over simplified to think managers are sacked just in a whim. There will clearly have been some standards set and agreed of which the owner will measure performance. Clearly things fell consistently below the standard set. Whatever some fan expectations were, the actual performance and progress fell below that set by the club. It is interesting that the club seems to expect standards higher than some fans this season.
