Does anyone have family/close friends who are fans of other teams? Does this cause any friction? Mine vary from Celtic, Liverpool, Donny, Rovrum and Leeds so not too much aminosity. Thankfully i dont know any Dee Dahs
No bread it into my kids that Barnsley is there team for life my daughters bed room is a shrine to the reds.
All my relatives that are football fans support Barnsley, but then I'm the only member of Dad or Mum's family, not born in Yorkshire I think
My boys wanted to be Leeds fans but after taking them to a Reds game they are now massive Barnsley fans for life.
My brother is a PNE fan.....he wasn't really too interested in going to watch football until his sons wanted to go to a game, and he lives near Preston so took them there. He's been over a few times to Oakwell when we've been playing PNE....doesn't cause any friction although I did consider just going home and making him find his own way back to mine from the ground the time when they beat us 4-0 in 2001! Having to stand outside the away end waiting for him and his kids after that game and having a few PNE fans walk past wasn't the best feeling! Other than that nobody who goes to games......other members of family may look for Barnsley results and comment to me about it, I called at my sister's one day on my way to the game, and my niece's boyfriend made a remark of "You're going to watch Barnsley?!" in a surprised manner and made some comment of them being rubbish....and he's from Royston!
My mum's a Wednesday fan My Dad's a Barnsley fan. She hoped either me or my sister would be a Wednesdayite-not feckin likely, we're both Tarn fans!!
My wife's a liverpool fan ... .... we got married on 14 Feb this year 2 days before the game .. caused an hour or so of major sulking on teh honeymoon
Friends across just about every club. Started going to Barnsley with dad & grandad, both of whom have lapsed (one for obvious reasons! (RIP) ) I've tried and tried with my lads, but 'cos I work most weekends, I don't get chance to take them much. Young 'un likes football enough, but his school hand out freebies for Bradford most weekends, so he talks more about them. And last weekend, he went on a friend's birthday trip to Blackburn Rovers - now asking if he can get a shirt (doh) I've lost him.....
As a dad Your only input into raising your kid was to get him to support the reds (well, that and teaching him to ride a bike) and you've failed. Hang your head in shame.
Gerrim across 't valley. There's a playground full of junior Reds over here ! . Well, almost a playground full !
Gi'ooer, thee. Get me a Monday to Friday job, that doesn't involve being in London and pays the same gargantuan salary I'm on now and I'll work on it. At least it's not United/Chelsea!!
I only have 1 other family member that I know of who supports Barnsley Me and my cousin, Jane.
Uncle Colin was a supporter too until he sadly passed away last year.
