I believe over the last few years our club has drifted further and further from the community and this has a major effect on the fan base! Until the club goes out on a limb and puts the fans first were going to struggle. Why are we not giving cheap tickets to the local schools? Why not get local dance groups or something that can be put on as half time entertainment from a local organisation? Any other ideas? Until the club goes back to being part of the community we are going to struggle in my opinion. The club play an important role in the area which I just don't think they are fulfilling at the moment and they need to do more to entice fans into the ground. Maybe a reshuffle behind the scenes is needed because we seem to be 20 years behind everybody else with regards to marketing and selling the club to supporters. Just a few thoughts that you may think are rubbish or agree in part but I suppose that's what this forum is all about.
The club is in limbo. They are praying for a takeover that looks more and more unlikely to happen and therefore not prepared to do anything under the current regime.
For that to change Rowing needs replacing by someone with fresh ideas. Lots of organisations operate on a strict marketing budget but find ways to engage with their customers. Its not rocket science. Rowing is dinosaur and has offered nothing in driving the club forward.
Teachers unwilling to bring the kids and I know club has tried to offer free tickets. Don has promised to try and tap into the Polish community (again)
I wanted to mention this to Don - my other half is a teacher and she'd be well up for arranging it. All new schools built, new head teachers etc. We need to approach 'em again.
Agreeing to try new thinks with regard to finance/entertainment is just putting more workload on Don and his disciples. Its like turkeys voting for Christmas. Hot air given to appease the disgruntled, bit like the manager does for his disciples. We all love folks that tell us how to do our jobs dont we. We really listen as well dont we. We do need change though on and off the field in my opinion.
It just seems to me things at the club have gone a bit stale over the past few seasons and we need to change something. Don to go and somebody fresh to come in with new ideas? The meeting last week seemed to sound a load of rubbish to me just what people have heard before and other things that just seemed to contradict themselves and confuse people. Don to me seems to like an old bloke who's quite content with how things are going but we can't sustain the club on the crowds were getting and without a takeover how much longer can he continue to brush the fans worries under the carpet?
A mate of mine is a PE teacher at Minsthorpe and he's taken kids to Leeds on numerous occasions. He said Leeds were beating down their door to get the kids along and that he'd had nothing from BFC.
I keep hearing this about the Polish community, but can anyone tell me what initiatives the Don has put in place to attract them to the club? Bearing in mind Cywka has been with the club since the summer and it's now almost Christmas.
