Look at the teams who have dropped to league 1 recently Wolves, Coventry , Pompey now league 2, bradford sheff wed , sheff united , Preston , huddersfield, Southampton , Norwich All these clubs are bigger than us and have gone down, but anybody would think it's below us to go down It's been coming for years , and our luck as ran out Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
A few more for your list:- QPR, Leeds United, Leicester City, Nottingham Forest, Norwich City, Charlton, Southampton.
You have to remember some of our fans wont have seen us that low and lot more will remember what an education it was the last time we plunged that low down the pyramid.
Yep so many , let's be honest we deserve to be playing league 1 next season and were very lucky not to be playing it this season I know it sounds daft but I'm looking forward to visiting different grounds and hopefully being a bit more competitive ( no guarantees I know ) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
All about opinions But some Barnsley fans need to get a grip and realise we have been punching Above our weight long enough Time for a reality check Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not Bradford, I agree. They got lucky with more than one PL season but soon suffered because of it. Historically similar or below us in the pecking orderl Preston have a much more illustrious history than us - cup wins and many seasons at First Division level. They are down now but they, like the Sheffield clubs and others, have had a lot more success in football than we have had.
Preston - last honours were in 1938 and last season in the top flight was 1961. Their history is very illustrious but 1889 doesn't count for much in 2014.
I never go to away games, mainly because everyone I know 'supports' a premier league team or reckons they can't afford it. I'll probably make a few in league 1 though, there's grounds with character that are worth visiting, rather than the flat packs.
I didn't mean that they have been at the top recently but their history is far better than ours as the stats confirm. Two big things in their favour as well - having possibly one of England's best ever players in their team for his whole career (Sir Tom Finney) and having possibly Gibraltar's best ever right back in their team (Lord Scott Wiseman)
And do we not remember Manchester City in Division One (or the Second Division as it was then) in 1998/9 and them only getting promoted after scraping through 3-1 on penalties against the mighty Gillingham? Think they might be a bit bigger than us!
You're watching the wrong team if you want some fight. I agree that we deserve to be relegated but the manner in which we're going down is painful.
here is a list of teams in the 3rd tier or below who have been much better placed Bradford Bristol C Sheff utd Oldham Preston Peterboro Tranmere Swindon Wolves Rotherham S****horpe Oxford Luton Gillingham MK dons... when they were originally Wimbledon also not sure if , Port Vale, Crewe and Colchester had a brief spell in the second tier too. but all are now in the 3rd tier or below.. but all have been to the second tier or better. I am talking now of where these teams are now ... right now... so yes I do believe we are living beyond our means. At this current time , and I know I am gonna get shot to **** here, we are at best a mid table 3rd tier team. Unless a mate of Abramovich suddenly appears that is.
Re: here is a list of teams in the 3rd tier or below who have been much better placed Lincoln City were in the second division in 1910 but you didn't mention them. Has the red wine been opened?
oh do behave you know full well what I am getting at here... more recent times... You fully know the fact I am getting at and its the fact that the money men are moving in and totally ruining our glorious game. But hey if you just wanna keep having a go at me then you just carry on... if it floats your boat then go for it.... I guess it must save you a lot on Vaseline.
