Having endured several years of dross and misery if we were fortunate to get into a play off place do you think it would really be in our best interests to achieve promotion? I do have that feeling that we'd be back to where we were, a struggling side with a fairly good chance of coming back down. Is it in the best interests of the club to be there again? I really do not want to be a wet blanket at all but would it be fair to one and all. Or you could argue that if we did get out of this league then we deserve it and our momentum would urge us along.
Christ...let's not even think about that yet. Let's just enjoy the fact that we're finally winning games and keeping clean sheets. Long may it continue. As fans, we ain't hard to please....
While ever we're challenging for the play-offs, we still have something to play for and the season won't be over in March, which is what I feared over Christmas. I don't think we are good enough to go up. Yet. But getting into the play offs would give us some much needed momentum for next season when I feel we will mount a much stronger challenge with a fit Sam Winnall (if we can keep him) On another note. You have to admit, we've been ***** most of this season and yet we're only 4 points away from the play-offs. Which means; on paper the half dozen teams above us up to Donny aren't that much (if any) better than us. Or (nearly)as ***** as us.. So hey. Who knows...? Just think where we might have been with a fit Sam Winnall........
No point playing if there's no hope. Who gives a toss about next season now? No brainer. Not least because you may on any given day be hoping that your team loses. Which is unforgiveable. It will not happen btw. So relax.
With the parachute payments in the championship we gonna struggle choose when we go up.we can't guarantee going up any time so if its this season next season or whatever I'll take it what we do once promoted is anybody's guess whether its now or ten years time imo
Of course we do/would. I only hope that if it ever happens again and we get promoted then the owner and board do a much better job than they did last time.
If we're in top 6 we've no choice. We try and win every game, we end up where we end up. I'd take promotion.
Absolutely. I want to get back into the championship as quickly as possible although I don't want to go back to year after year of fighting relegation.
Unbelievable ,we change managerial capacity and I watch in depth discussions on here at length about where we'll be if we get relegated again etc etc. fact...we want promotion year in year out until we reach the pinnacle of the game, admittedly this will possibly be never achieved in my lifetime but surely this has to be the aspiration every single time and every single season. If We go up this year ,and it's a massive if, then brilliant, extra funding ,extra publicity ,bigger crowds etc etc.stop where we are because 'we're not quite good enough' and were in danger of doing a Sheffield UNited and stopping in this cauldron of despair for god knows how long. So to put it simply, promotion is at all times the ultimate goal every season how ere it is achieved.
Of course we do there is a huge difference between wanting it and expecting it. I think we would herald a place in the play-offs this term as good as automatic TBH.
Abso bloody chuffin lootly . Totally agree. Sam is key. With this squad and the right leadership we will be bouncing in this division next year. Bring back danny as head of recruitment
Just looked at table. Bristol for me will definately finish top, then its anyone from 2nd to 4th for 2nd spot. Sheff Utd will more then then likely finish 5th unless they have a really bad run of form. 6th can be anyone from Doncaster to Rochdale who are 14th. Tarn to beat Sheff Utd 1.0 at Wembley then
The short answer is yes. I want back to back promotions to the premiership. Not at all likely but why any so called fan would want us to be in this shithole league for longer than we have to be, instead of playing in a better league with the club making more money is beyond me.
I'd like for us to just finish this season strongly and be able to mount a challenge next season. It'd feel strange getting to the play offs this year because we don't really deserve it. I want us to have a memorable season and go back up in the top two. I think a play off defeat could damage us going into next season. No this doesn't mean I want us to lose games, I just think we shouldn't get carried away after 3 straight wins for the first time this season. I'd still take a top 10 finish as a big success. Build some momentum now for a good year next year like dem blades and Bristol City have.
Pretty much my view as well. Of course we want promotion at the earliest opportunity as a club but I'd hate us to go back up when we are not ready and bounce straight back down again. Especially after having a season most would see as being ***** for long periods and which ended up being so ***** that we ditched the manager. Not something to look back on with fondness. If I had a choice I'd say much better to go into next season with momentum, storm the bloody division, finish top 2 after an enjoyable year that we'll remember for a long time, and be back in the championship ready and in a position to handle it.
cant see how we can ever go back into the championship in a better state than last time we were there, while we are in the third division our finances will never be what they were in the championship, the football pyramid finances have certainly made it a tough place to be for teams like us.We are never going to play our way into higher finances,so without some big windfall,we are where we are.its the way of the game these days. dropping from the championship to the third division costs you big time, whereas dropping from premiership to championship you get paid handsomely for being *****.
