    I have crohns unfortunately.

Giving me some gip last couple of months. Settles down but last 2 days has kicked in again. Apparently it can be (according to women who have it) worse than labour.

So last couple of hours its been kicking me. So ive cracked open the whiskey bottle (pain killers do bugger all) and its now easing off. And I'm getting a little tipsy.

Does this (as my dad says) medicinal purposes work or is it just an excuse to get bolloxed (our lasses words) and you forget the pain. ..

    Can't make my mind up

I have had chronic pain for around 12 years now, most of it nerve related (I had a spinal tumour) and because it's nerve related alcohol pretty much takes the pain away. Some days the pain can be quite unbearable, but I'm used to it now and having tried various treatments that all have their side effects I've cut my tablets to the bare minimum, as the pain is preferable to the side effects. However, I have said to the wife on many occasions that I can see how people in chronic pain can end up alcohol dependent.

Whisky is the best drink in the world mate - it cures everything (for a short time at least). I'm sipping a nice bottle of Jura right now.

Aye. Short time. Apart from a slightly thick head which I can handle. Its worn off and my stomach back to where it was last night. Hopefully a bit of exercise will sort it

3/4 bananas before bed prevents any thick head the morning after so thats the rough feeling sorted. Now for the does whiskey remove pain , i would say yes , from my experience 2 bottles once removed at least 2 days from my memory,so i reckon it kills pain. Avoid rum though , once got pissed on a full bottle, it was 3 days before i sobered up, every time i had a drink of water i went back to being drunk
